GPT-6 Astra completed the original Portal in an AI-controlled playthrough in almost 24 hours compared to what that normally takes a person just a few hours
The AI analyzed screenshots of the game, understood its surroundings, and chose movements and button inputs. It finished with 6,925 inputs.
In-game time was 1 hour 53 minutes, but the experiment took nearly 24 hours because the AI needed time to process each situation.
The test is very interesting because Astra had to understand the game world, Portal requires understanding space, planning ahead and figuring out how different actions affect the environment, Astra was able to handle those challenges well enough to reach the end.
The creator is now considering Portal 2 as the next challenge.

In 1973, Japan planted trees in concentric circles as part of an experiment in forestry spacing. This is what they look like today from above...
The trees are part of an experimental forest near Nichinan in Miyazaki Prefecture on the island of Kyushu. Japanese forestry researchers wanted to determine how the amount of space available to individual trees affected their growth, particularly their height and trunk development.
Researchers planted Japanese cedar, known as sugi, in 10 concentric circles. Rather than maintaining equal spacing, the distance between trees gradually increased from the center outward. This allowed scientists to compare trees growing under different levels of competition for sunlight, water, and nutrients while keeping other environmental conditions relatively consistent.
The experiment was originally designed to run for approximately 50 years. Measurements demonstrated that trees given more space generally grew larger, providing useful information for determining planting density in commercial forests.
Japan has conducted forestry experiments like this partly because forests cover roughly two thirds of the country's land area. Large scale planting of cedar and cypress accelerated after World War II as Japan attempted to rebuild its domestic timber supply.
The experiment became internationally famous decades after it began because aerial and satellite imagery revealed its unusual geometric pattern. The Japanese government subsequently considered preserving the site beyond its original experimental lifespan rather than harvesting the trees.
