It's probably one of those cases where the character took a life on their own and by the end of the story the author just didn't know how to get everything back on track to the original intended ending, so bam time skip, characters being OC, sweep everything else under the rug and we're done.
As you said, TJ and Ian relationship was never explored further than trauma bonding that was eating Ian alive, yet 20 years of guilt and trauma were supposedly undone by TJ getting told he actually wanted to destroy the organisation not taking over it, telling Ian he wanted to go home and Ian slurping it all up, even going as far as building a house for him unprompted.
The resolution was so forced and inorganic, nothing felt genuine on TJ's end because he neeeed an outsider to realize maybe Ian meant something, while Ian acted against everything he had previously shown to strive for while his thoughts were kept vague. It's like they were just puppets on strings forced into a narrative that completely destroyed whatever development or characterization they had.
Honestly only Jo really had a full arc and left relatively unscathed. But with how Ian regressed, everything Jo and Ian went through ended up being devalued as well.
If all the main emotional storyline were snubbed by the end of the story, of course we would feel disappointed and left wonder, what this was all for.
Context for why the author is rightfully called out for shifting blame from her carelessness to readers is necessary, unless you think I’m referring to something else?
Any normal reader will see a Chicago theater and think the scene is set in Chicago, and like I said, Ian’s location is the least of the problem with the ending sequence. Her admitting to using Chicago asset even though she intended Ian to still be in NYC or Any other city is just another point towards how messy and rushed the last ending chapters were.
As a TjIan fan, your standards are so low that you don’t even care how your couple, after 98 chapters of separation and fighting, got this kind of careless treatment? Art of TJ looked like scribbled lines, background of landmarks picked randomly without even reading the asset title, all the domestic moments taken straight from JoIan moments, Jo being the most well drawn out of them all and living the best of his life, while TJ is depressed and jumpy at random passerby, TjIan’s thing was only sex, and you didn’t even get any smut that you begged for. I’d be quite disappointed if I were you.
I never believed in the timeline theory and never denied TjIan end game. I have and will continue to criticize how badly handled the end game sequence and how the whole narrative surrounding TJIan ended up harmfully romanticize abuse. So if you don’t like it then block and move on, ta. Or better yet, stay and give me more engagement 👌
After yesterday's debacle, I'm even more certain that dyk is really not happy with how things turned out. There's no way an author who is proud of their work can say "it's over move on" to their readers. She's giving "I'm so over this story stop bothering me about it" vibe.
@JoannaB3B3 Author: uses Chicago assets with Chicago written in the title name
Readers: the characters must be in Chicago here
Author: shocked pikachu face, proceed to throw shade at readers by saying nah it's random and readers are wrong for thinking it's Chicago
Peak professionalism :)
I want to provide a context to people who don’t read wetsand but still being led on by TJ cultists.
The issue was never about using preexisting assets. See panel below taken from the last stretch of the story.
Now tell me, if a panel contains a recognizable landmark that is Chicago theatre, the story is set in NYC up til this point, there was a time skip where the MC was last seen driving somewhere and said he’s going away, is it wrong to think he is in fact in Chicago in this scene?
Then there’s the actual asset with Chicago literally written in the name.
This is where the criticism comes in. This is a highly anticipated finale to a 4 years journey, yet the author admitted to not even doing the bare minimum of reading the title of the asset, created misinterpretation, then condescendingly chastised readers for it. Does this seem professional to you?
That being said, the location is not the issue as well. The story ended months ago with rushed narratives and tons of unexplained plot holes that leaves people on both sides baffled at how bad it was and itching for some sort of follow up explanation. Then there’s the constant fandom wars full of mischaracterization and false narratives being spread around. Yet the first thing the author chose to address after months of basically radio silence on the story was a theory nobody in the fandom gave 2 cents about, and telling fans to move on from her work.
All this happened after a fan sign in NZ was announced, so it feels even more disingenuous on the author’s end, as if the intention was to instigate fandom war and generate interest towards the event.
so you just picked random backgrounds for the finale of your bl debut manhwa? zero efforts into your own work and consideration for your readers. How lazy and uncreative… You could have at least made it make sense.
lmaao like what????
There are certainly better, nicer ways to word it like "I appreciate you still talk about my work but it was a random choice. Sorry for causing misunderstandings. Let's try to make this space more fun and peaceful for all of us." but she chooses to be the instigator instead.
Not Jo being reduced to just a rapist on a weekly basis, not the rushed ending sequence, not the stale bread end game couple, but people thinking Ian being in Chicago because he was drawn to be near Chicago landmarks is the thing that needs to be addressed? Why is the author basically admitting to being sloppy with her work to debunk a head cannon that is pushed by maybe 5 people and dismissed by the rest? It just makes the ending so obviously rushed. Ian's physical location is the least of the problems.
The way these are just some moments 🥲 they don't include Ian stroking Jo's hair or strangers calling Jo handsome lmao. Ian would call Jo attractive & handsome totally unprompted. Esp. after seeking Jo out. Remember when he complimented Jo's beauty marks? Even Jo's beauty mark on his dick got a compliment before that chopped... nevermind 🫢.
& Ian thought of Jo softly as well; how many times did he stare mesmerized at Jo? When they were basically living together, I loved how they always used "we" 🥺. Ian cared when Jo looked down, followed him, was proud of his acceptance, told him he felt better just by looking at him, regretted not buying him flowers after seeing Jo's fine ass waiting for him, said he wanted to come back camping with him, thought Jo had adorable expressions, fondled his ass 😛, had sex flashbacks lol, had his tongue out panting for him after a kiss, basically thought Jo was to pretty to swallow his 😉 (remember his expression when he came in Jo's mouth?), looked amazed at Jo's photos, felt butterflies during their "it feels like the first time" moment even though Ian had slept with countless others before, showed rage when he thought Jo was being monitored, apologized to Jo after he saw him with his look alike even if they weren't together, loved that obessive look in his blue eyes, shivered when Jo said he would give up everything for Ian... I can never take them seriously when they say Ian never liked Jo or Jo was just a hook up. Jo was the first real relationship Ian had & the first love who put him first unconditionally.
They love saying it's unrealistic how 98 made it seem like their love was so grand but they really don't understand that this is the most realistic way. Being clumsy, having misunderstandings, being shy, learning more about eachother...it was mutual. All of this happening in a few months just shows me how intense they were about each other. I will always wish Ian was written with more kindness. The fact that he carried all the blame to the end, including what was done against him by his "family"...I have too much to say anout that. Ian wasn't like a prize at all to Jo; he wasn't a possession. Jo told him from the beginning that he liked him, wouldn't ask for anything, he just wanted to be with Ian, would ask him if he was okay... do you remember when Jo asked Ian why he killed the subordinate? & Ian said nobody had ever asked him that? & then Jo went to make sure Ian was okay even if he was panicking? I wish Jo was also treated more kindly & that he was more selfish. 💙
(done ranting, sorry this is all over the place lol)

The mole placements on Tei is 👌I spy 4 on him, did I miss any? Shuraka please get to work, there better be bite marks all over them next chapter
Sea paradise x Persona 30th anniversary collaboration was so worth it. Going through to the tunnel of water listening to Memories of you and seeing Makoto waiting at the end wrecked me. They absolutely nailed the atmosphere there. And there were so many persona fans going around the park from all over the world too. Great to see so much love for persona.

Hilarious that they blocked me but still so obsessed enough to qrt my post, then proceed to make excuses for TJ raping Ian yet again by saying it's a common thing in manhwa. Call TJ out as a rapist he is please, you have no problem doing so with Jo no?
What Jo would do to Ian when they are together you ask? No need to imagine anything the author already answered that. Cook for Ian, decorate his house with flowers, take him on star gazing dates, eat his ass, enjoy all the riding Ian initiate everywhere in the house.
Too bad they would have to squeeze what little left of their brain to imagine a domestic life for that end game couple because they got nothing, not even smut that they begged for 😆😆😆😆
It wouldn't have been so bad if the ending was written well, because toxic end game is nothing new in Korean BL, but we all know how it turned out. She boasted about being different, only to bit off more than she can chew and deliver a cliché and rushed ending. It's just hilarious how JoIan was built up so much better than the end game couple that the other side still has nothing to do but drag Jo to gain attention
