Put back the people’s plaque Viscount Dundas-Melville…here your ‘abolitionist’ Dundas ordered his aristocratic governor Balcarres of Jamaica to buy slaves for his depleted army to protect the rich Jamaica colony etc. Then Balcarres’ son collects compensation for the army slaves.

To justify removing the Council’s plaque unofficially, the Viscount says Prof McCarthy said, “key abolitionists” supported Dundas’ slavery plan. But key abolitionists…Clarkson said Dundas was the “chief instrument” against abolition and Pitt said Dundas’ plan was a deception.
