Vice President Sara Duterte hopes for a speedy process in her impeachment trial, noting that speedy disposition of cases is enshrined in the Constitution.

"Gusto lang sana namin ay mapabilis 'yong proseso dahil hindi puwedeng tumatagal ‘yong proseso natin na nag-iisip ‘yong mga tao na, ‘Ano ba? Totoo ba na may ginawang masama? Hindi ba totoo 'yong mga akusasyon?' So dapat mabilis ‘yong proseso kasi nga ‘di ba sa ating constitution nandiyan ‘yong speedy administration," she said in an interview in Zamboanga City on Wednesday, August 19.

Asked by a reporter about others saying that her personal attendance would expedite the process, Duterte responded, "Hindi totoo 'yon kasi fully represented ako noong ating defense team at sufficient ‘yon na meron kang mga abogado doon na nagpa-participate doon sa process, ‘yon ay para na rin[g] pagdalo ng respondent doon [sa] impeachment.

Hindi naman ako abogado para sa impeachment doon so wala akong matutulong doon sa proseso ng pag-present ng witness, cross-examine ng witness, lahat ‘yon ay trabaho ng abogado. At ‘yan ‘yong participation at appearance ko doon." #VPOnTrial | via @HarleneDelgado

FALCIS: DEFENSE WINNING BATTLE TO MAKE PUBLIC LOSE INTEREST IN IMPEACHMENT TRIAL

Speaking on #TheSpokes, Politiko Talks host Jess Falcis said the defense is winning in its efforts to make the public lose interest in the impeachment trial, but at the expense of accountability.

Falcis said moving the proceedings to 3 p.m. could help bring back public attention, as more people would be able to monitor the trial after work. He added that the proceedings should be allowed to continue into the evening if necessary rather than being constrained by the Senate’s morning schedule.
