Most people are hesitant about connecting their personal accounts to AI tools.
And honestly, I understand that...

I decided to test Addys with my own workflow to see how the permissions actually work. I connected my Google Calendar, Gmail, and LinkedIn.

Here’s my honest breakdown of what I found.

First, how safe is it?

When you connect an account, you are not handing over your password. Addys uses official authorization tokens, with permissions separated into specific levels.

For example, when I first tried adding events to my Google Calendar, the action was blocked because I only had permission to view my schedule, not create events.

To schedule anything, I had to deliberately approve write access.

Even with write access, the agent does not operate silently in the background. It does not run when you are not actively using it, and it cannot publish or send things without your approval.

What can it actually do?

1. Check your calendar availability and find open slots based on your local time.

2. Read email threads or messages you specifically ask about and use that context to complete tasks.

3. Prepare structured review cards for emails, calendar reminders, or direct messages.

What can it not do?

1. It cannot publish public posts to your LinkedIn feed.

2. It cannot send an email or invitation without you approving the action through a review card.

3. It cannot edit or delete information across your connected apps behind your back.

Now for my honest experience using it.

What impressed me most was its ability to follow detailed instructions. When you give it specific rules, it sticks to them. It doesn’t wander into irrelevant topics or add unnecessary filler, and it responds well when you correct it.

The main issue I noticed is latency.

Some actions and multi step tasks take several seconds to process. It’s not a dealbreaker, but reducing that waiting time would make the experience much smoother, especially during a busy workday.

There are also two features I really want to see next.

Voice input.

Sometimes typing a long, detailed prompt on a phone is just too much work. Being able to speak your instructions and let the agent organize them would make this kind of workflow much more natural.

An X integration.

For people working in tech and Web3, X is a major part of the daily workflow. Having X alongside LinkedIn and the other connected platforms would make Addys even more useful for managing content and conversations.

For me, the biggest thing with AI automation is trust.

It’s not just about what an AI can do. It’s also about knowing exactly what it can access, what it cannot do, and when you remain in control of an action.

I’ll keep exploring Addys and sharing what I find, especially around privacy and the data shared when you connect different accounts.
