Palestinian boy with autism reportedly suffering abuse in Israeli detention

Israeli authorities are reportedly holding a 14-year-old Palestinian boy with autism and severe disabilities in detention, where he faces violence from guards. The boy was abducted two weeks ago by Israel’s Shin Bet and police on alleged 'security violations' during a family visit to the occupied West Bank. His name and arrest details have been kept secret.

His mother and lawyer, who saw him in detention, reported that he is subjected to “violence and harsh treatment.”

His mother described soldiers storming their home before dawn, pointing rifles and flashlights at the children, and confiscating family electronics. Lawyers visiting the boy reported he is handcuffed, beaten, and bullied, despite his disabilities and small stature. The court recently extended his detention for another week, rejecting his lawyer’s appeal.

Palestinian legal groups warn that detainees, including juveniles, are subjected to systematic torture, beatings, starvation, and medical neglect in Israeli facilities. The Palestinian Prisoners Society reports that 80 Palestinians have died in Israeli custody since October 2023.

Israel knows they don’t have the equipment to retrieve bodies because Israel destroyed the machines themselves, leaving over 10,000 Palestinians buried under rubble.

This is an excuse to violate the ceasefire, again.
