Reports from Brussels say that Musk will not cut off Starlink in Ukraine because, in response, Brussels would impose restrictions on Starlink that would bury it in Europe.

Musk has already been informed of this possible outcome, and that is definitely not what he wants from Europe, the largest market for his product.

He may be anything, but he's not an idiot yet…

No, @marcotravaglio.

Decisamente no.

A quanto pare, la guerra informativa russa contro l’Occidente aveva bisogno di infrastrutture russe. Logico, no?

RIP, bot.

"Russia invaded Ukraine. The first country to surrender was the United States." (Michael MacKay)

There are nine thousand American graves above Omaha Beach, and Europeans still bring their children there to explain what courage looks like. A whole generation of us grew up believing that was who America was, the country that crossed an ocean to face a dictator and later stood in Berlin and told Moscow to tear down its wall.

This weekend that same country asked Moscow for diesel, and threatened to cut off the weapons Ukraine fights with unless it stopped hitting Russian refineries.

It is a sad thing to watch, and it must be sadder still for Americans, whichever way they vote. The men in those graves earned a pride that cannot be inherited, only kept or lost.

Today the home of the brave is in Ukraine.

Guai a farlo.

America’s Friends Have Done the Math

For eighty years, America could count on one thing abroad. Whatever its allies thought of the president, they trusted the country. That was the deal, and it survived Vietnam, Iraq and a great deal of bad television.

Look at the numbers now. Only 11 percent of Europeans still call the United States an ally, half what it was eighteen months ago. In Canada, the share who see America as a reliable partner has gone from 83 percent to 35. In Australia, trust has fallen to the lowest level ever recorded. And when Canadians were asked which country threatens them most, 55 percent said the United States. China got 15.

These aren’t America’s enemies. These are the people who fought beside it, bought its weapons and lent it their bases. When they stop believing in you, the problem isn’t them.
