@diviacaroline In some (many?) cultures, the act of pointing at a person carries the weight and implication of a "J'accuse" - there's cultural baggage in the gesture. If not accusation, it could be singling out (precursor to ostracizing). Even in the West, that cultural memory abides.
@vidhster Importantly, it seems not like a skill to learn (e.g. here's 5 questions you can ask) but more like an attentiveness to the moment and to your interlocutor. You have to get out of your own head and thought patterns enough to feel, to sense, and to flow. It's the art of attention
@QiaochuYuan Yes transit is p good. Google Maps does a fine job with connections. Btw Empower seems like a good Uber alternative - about 50% cheaper best case.
@TylerAlterman Yes, I think. But only in the rarefied bubbles of academia, or priestly classes, debating theological arcana, etc. Layers upon layers of abstractions/nuance. Gets pretty dead after a while. It should be like a spice. Adds interestingness but should not be the main caloric content
Unfortunately the extent to which this is already "normalized" is the concerning thing here. It's fine to take some time to decompress, but half a day of shows/being offline.. does not feel like a healthy response. Even worse, the psyche will spirally respond to this response :(
Normalize giving yourself half a day for your nerves system to recover from socializing. Dark rooms, big blankets, comfort shows, and answer no phone calls or text messages.
My favorite line from Atomic Habits has been living in my head rent-free:
โIt doesnโt make sense to continue wanting something if youโre not willing to do what it takes to get it. If you donโt want to live the lifestyle, then release yourself from the desire. To crave the result but not the process is to guarantee disappointment.โ๏ฟผ
@QiaochuYuan@psswordprotectd@nosilverv Another way to think of it is that an RT is just a QT with no commentary. It's easy to see why likes on QTs are shown in the manner of it being your own tweet, so the same logic applies to an RT too
