Without God, why would there be morality at all?
Born TX. Proud daughter of USN officer/war vet. Loves fishing.

Dogs accept us like no other being. They don't care if we're tall or short, fat or skinny, ugly or beautiful, happy or depressed. They don't judge and they love unconditionally. They are one of God's greatest gifts. It's a happy coincidence that "dog" is God spelled backwards in English.
@arrhythmiarules@Jeffsirp@AlinejadMasih Try worrying about your own country and let us worry about ours. The U.S. has had to cover your Euro butts waaaaay too often and all we get is a bunch of ungrateful wankers. You could be speaking German or Russian if not for us. You may end up speaking Arabic or Chinese.

Iran DOES NOT have objectively better healthcare. The US has the best, most advanced healthcare in the world. It can be VERY EXPENSIVE if that's the criteria you're using but it is the best.
Same goes for the "large portion of US is 3rd world" comment. Sure, our large cities have homelessness, drug addiction, and crime. The way to clean it up is an ideological issue between Democrats and Republicans.
But as the world's soccer fans found out during the World Cup, the VAST majority of the US is very beautiful, friendly, and a truly great place.
We do have a problem in education. It's an issue based on ideology. We need to focus on teaching core academic subjects in K-12.

As I said, I can't imagine many jobs that someone could work for 2 years off and on alternately with a 2 yr off and on job in Congress. Perhaps someone who owned a company could. Again, this is EXTREMELY limiting to the pool of candidates on the basis of affordability. Do you want only wealthy Congressmen?

Presidents ARE a very high value target, ESPECIALLY during war. How about they cancel ALL press aboard AF1 from now on? Would that shut y'all up?
You say Presidents are not indispensable. Are you KIDDING ME?? I don't care what you think about the current POTUS but if Iran was successful in killing Trump, this country would be boiling with fury on one side and joy on another. That's a recipe for DISASTER. PLUS, the ONLY proper response would be to bomb the hell out of Iran and make sure all the IRGC heads are DEAD.
Do you actually think all people are interchangeable as well? JD Vance may actually be tougher as a military foe than Trump. He was a Marine after all.
...
I can't understand how you don't understand the obvious here.
AF1 is ALWAYS a target. If a journalist receives the privilege of flying on it, they'd better understand that. If they don't, they'd have to be stupid or terribly naive.
We are at war with Iran. The threat level is higher than normal. Trump is President. He also attracts a singularly high level of assassination attempts. So again. If journalists don't understand this...blah blah blah; i.e. stupid or naive.
AF1 is equipped with top notch defensive tech. They're also given military escorts when under a higher level of threat. Both Trump's actual plane and the original AF1 w/journalists, cabinet members and top staff on it were given F35 escorts when returning from Turkey. The USSS was adding ANOTHER layer of security for POTUS by putting him in another plane which is always appropriate in ALL CIRCUMSTANCES if they make that call. It also makes sense to put SECWAR with POTUS if Iran attempted an attack because there would surely need to be an immediate, ferocious response. No matter who the POTUS is, no foreign country should attempt assassination, EVER.
I'd give up my left pinky for a ride on AF1, ESPECIALLY with Trump on it. I'm amazed at how much time he spends talking to the press when he travels on it. I don't remember other Presidents doing it so often and so casually like he does. Journos are LUCKY but are too left-brained-lame to realize it!

A limited government IS the spirit of the Constitution. But NO govt is not. 2 year term limits would be chaotic because of constant turnover.
I don't have a problem with overall term limits though. No one in Congress should be there forever. It wasn't meant to be like a tenured professor's job.
A President gets 2 x 4 years max. Senator's terms are 6 years each. 2 x 6 years should be their max. Reps should be limited to 8 years like the Pres or 12 years like the Senate. Period.
Doubt it happens because they'd have to vote any term limits on themselves.

No country has any political system like that. Even if a very ethical person wants to serve, they don't have enough time in TWO YEARS to get anything accomplished because they would be too junior. It takes some time to form coalitions. Plus, there are committee assignments and hierarchies based on seniority. If there are only 2-year terms and then a 2-year break, there can't be any follow-through.
I'm not having a problem with having enough ethical politicians here. I'm having a problem with a functional Congress if no one serves for more than 2 years. There'd be a lot of dropped balls when someone leaves and no one else picks up afterwards. Our Congress struggles to function well as it is.

"House reps should only be able to serve every other term".
Go learn this term: "ZERO decent applicants"
Who would do a job like that? A job that lasts 2 years only? Someone who wanted to pad their resume for their own benefit, not the public's, but that's it. No one gains any seniority or influence in their 1st 2 yr job as a Representative and no one would go do another job for 2 years and then come back to campaign for another 2 year Rep job. Your concept is unworkable. Actually...it's ridiculous.

Islam and government has a close relationship in many countries. These govts base their laws on Islamic Sharia Law. US law expressly forbids a government ruled by a religion.
There were countries ruled by dictates of the Catholic church hundreds of years ago. There were the Papal States before modern Italy and Christendom in the Middle Ages in Europe from about 500-1500 AD. In modern times, only Vatican City, a micro-state, is now ruled by the Pope.
The U.S. has never had religious wars on its' soil, unlike the majority of Europe. We have areas that have religious influence like the Mormons do in Utah. It's obvious that we very recently have areas now strongly influenced by Islam. The problem is Islam itself dictates that it must conquer all people; i.e. go to war to make others convert or die. Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism or Buddhism in modern times don't expressly promote these methods of conversion. There may be isolated pockets of non-Islamic religious extremism used for political purposes due to a power vacuum, but that's it. Islam however aims to conquer ENTIRE COUNTRIES.
Many people in the US, myself included, are very leery of the aims of Islamic politicians, not because they are Islamic per we, but because they are ALSO aligned with socialist/communist principles. Plus, many of them have said very negative things about the US and Americans in general.

Ensuring that only citizens vote is not taking away rights to vote. It is making sure that YOUR vote COUNTS. Every vote by a foreign citizen cancels out a citizen's vote. Every. Single. One. All other western countries have voter ID laws. We are the world's largest democracy. Why don't WE have country-wide voter ID????

@LodiNJNews@MHerronLaw@GODSAVEDME007@SgtRJC@KMSharp72 The jet was converted to Air Force One, with all the associated, & classified, equipment and countermeasures installed at taxpayers expense. Trump is not keeping the jet as it is now part of POTUS fleet.

I'm confirming that it takes a lot of time and energy and it is a media-driven, visibility-driven process. But. I don't think they should have to quit their job before campaigning to keep their job, or campaigning for a better job because nobody else quits their current job while looking for another job. The only difference is politicians do it OPENLY while the rest of us do it sneakily so we dont lose our current job while we look for another job.
...
So you think all people should be forced to quit their job before looking for another, better job?
Or, you don't think campaigning is like when you must spend EXTRA time working in order to "look extra good" to get a raise (i.e. re-election)?
Politicians are looking for work on an election year. Plus, American elections take amazing amounts of TIME and energy. I wouldn't mind if it all would get dialed back a lot! Bitch at the media. They're driving it.

My explanation why Israel should exist is because the Jewish people were killed en masse in the Holocaust. Approx 63% (~6 million out of 9.5 million) of Jews in Europe were murdered, or about 1 in 3 (36%) of the worldwide population. The 1933 Jewish worldwide population was about 16.5 million. By 1945, it was 10.5 million.
That's why on November 29, 1947, the United Nations General Assembly passed Resolution 181, recommending the partition of the British Mandate Over Palestine into separate Jewish and Arab states.
The Jewish leaders accepted the plan but the Arabs did not. They attacked Israel immediately because they wanted ALL of the land. However, Israel prevailed.
Israel is the ancient Jewish homeland. It is a Holy Land for Christians as well but the Jewish people were there more than a thousand years earlier (1300+) than Christ. There are also Muslim holy sites in Israel, but Islam came to being 700 years after Christ.

Those of you who were born after 9/11 or a few years before it weren't around for the feeling such an attack gives you. It must've been something like what people felt when Pearl Harbor was attacked and 2,403 people died in a matter of hours. 2,996 people died on 9/11 and I remember that day very VERY WELL. We all were feeling kind of scared and sick at my office. I wrote a letter to the editor about the attack that was published in the local newspaper. I can understand why many felt compelled to join the military. Watching those people jump out of the 100+ floor windows of the Twin Towers to escape death by fire so they attain certain death by falling was HEARTBREAKING.
Those of you too young or not around then just don't get it. There's been an ongoing war with Islamists (i.e. radical Islam) for nearly 50 years and it's def not over. This war affects much of what our fed govt is doing abroad and to a certain degree at home but it's a war we have to fight and win.
The anti-capitalism push is pushed by "Marxist dilettantes" who either have no concept of the horrible and deadly track record that socialism/communism has, or are sociopaths and don't care. Marxist revolutions are always very bloody with pogroms against those who are deemed undesirable or disloyal. Even those who are loyal face mass starvation because govt employees don't make very good business people. They aren't the people who make things run or MAKE THINGS. Millions ALWAYS die in these revolutions. Learn history. Capitalism means freedom to do the type of job you want (socialism/communism decides FOR you what THEY want you to do) and if you work hard, you'll be successful.

There's less than 16 million Jews in the entire world. That's about the populations of North and South Carolina added together. Yet some people make AIPAC out to be a boogieman when it's just a lobbying group. Politicians get support from all kinds of lobbying groups. AIPAC who lobbies for Israel, the only ME democracy and a major ally, isn't a bad source of support compared to many others.
