We've been enabling #openBIM IFC export from #Navisworks as existing offerings authoring enormous files that aren't practical to use. Our implementation 20MB IFC from structural steel model (over 1GB from other plugins). Gauging interest to prioritize further development.
@avelezsosa That's great news.
Can you confirm, to get the benefit out if the Navisworks importer, do you need to have Revit 2021 also installed, or will it work with just Navisworks Manage 2021 installed?
Thanks in Advance.
@snowyweston@Navisworks It's the simple file reader improvements I'm looking for.
Better IFC and DGN Integration.
And make that a proper IFC reader, not the half baked Revit reader in there that can't work to UTM coordinates.
Thank you for your patience over the weekend, as our crews lifted the main structural beams of the new William Street bridge into place above the rail corridor in South Yarra.
@thedigitaltwin Its interesting how you find very few of those articles get into the weeds:
- How do the team delever the data?
- what reskilling & education is required?
- Lessons Learned?
- How is the data managed?
- How much double & triple handling is there?
To many Unicorns.

I want to thank you for your amazing commitment to MelBIM.
I've just got to navigate Melbourne transportation. You have to jump on a plain.
Well done to all the #MelBIM community.
@becdecicco Good call.
"separates the grown-ups from the kids" is PC.
I tend to find Women in BIM more informed in the first place (something to do with a male dominated industry), so my metaphor maybe is close to correct. :)
@for59j54 Hi John
Did you confirm if their FM app. supports COBie in the first place?
Was it more efficient to get the data into it using a proprietary workflow?

@TheDarkAsset@Cobra524@fatboybim Do we also need to "handhold" them as they need to stand up form a sitting position, otherwise walking doesn't quite work.
If client representatives can't read a document before they themselves implement it on multimillion dollar projects, maybe they're in the wrong profession.
@javieralonsomad It's 3 years after UK BIM Level 2 was rolled out. What is the status and timeline for UK BIM Level 3a (IFC Deliverable) rollout?
I remember reading 4 years ago somewhere 3a was due some time around now!
@BluesBIM@LukeJohnston81 I think you have answered your own question.
Up front just in time external formal training followed by on project mentoring & guidance. Ideally the second step is internal knowledge, but that is not always possible.
@RevitST I'll be interested to see the Australian local annex to #ISO19650.
My observation:
All Gov. projects already have 2D container "Statuses" & some form of container naming protocols. Thus why not add a "recommendation" to the local annex?
Doesn't need to be as in-dept as #BS1192.
We done to all involved in the updated #BIMNZHandbook. Is see the #CDE section chose not to get into "recomended" Container Status or Naming. Was that seen as to challenging or no value? #BIMNZ#ISO19650
