George Harrison and Brian May, the only time these two rock legends met.

On November 29, 1992, George Harrison and Brian May crossed paths at the Water Rats Ball, a charity event held in London. It was the only time the two guitarists met face to face, in an almost chance encounter between two generations that had shaped the history of British rock from completely different perspectives.

For May, that encounter carried enormous significance: he always acknowledged The Beatles as an absolute influence on his career, even going so far as to describe them as “our Bible.”

In various interviews, he explained that the band served as a model at every stage of his musical development, and that they continued to do so even decades later, hailing their work as the pinnacle of songwriting and performance in rock.

May also singled out Harrison in particular, whom he considered a guitarist deeply underrated by the music community, admiring his unique approach to chord construction. That brief encounter in 1992 thus remained the only physical record of a bond of admiration that, for Brian, had been building for much longer, ever since he began listening to Beatles albums.
