Waitangi Day is a great chance to reflect on the history of Aotearoa, and of course Aotearoa NZ histories. We have some amazing programmes in the works, including a very exciting collaboration with @Te_Papa We can't wait to tell you more, watch this space!! 👀 👀 👀
“Even though you write from a point of view of where you’re at, history is being made all time” #treatyofwaitangi history is still being made. Rich #anzhistories comment here from Claudia Orange.
I highly recommend getting your hands on a copy of this. It is practical and will be immediately useful in your classroom. Let’s help our kids get those #literacy credits!
A huge congratulations to Irene Andersen, who has co-authored a new book - Secondary Literacy - A Teacher Handbook - with Jennifer Glenn! You can grab your copy through the #SimplyLit website here: https://t.co/AAqdYscwen #EA_PLD#edchatNZ
As leaders our ability to engage in effective dialogue impacts on our ability to lead learning-focused conversations & improve outcomes for ākonga... So, it's very worthwhile deliberately developing the micro-skills involved. @EvaluationAssoc https://t.co/MBDXCcpOpa
Be Warned! This account is turning into “What I’m Going to Read/Listen To Over Summer” Just requested this from the library and can’t wait to read it @BWB_NZ https://t.co/ZwJ8Ut2fww
If you’ve got some driving ahead of you this summer, the Education Research Reading Room podcast is my number 1 recommendation, followed by Sounds Like A Cult…
I just released the 5 year anniversary episode of the ERRR podcast. This ep is with the most requested guest, Dr Anita Archer on Explicit Instruction.
Listen for info about my forthcoming book too, summarising takeaways from the ERRR's first half decade.

"Learning productive ways to 'be' in uncertain times is our latest blog post by Chief Researcher Rosemary Hipkins. The post is based around her new book Teaching for Complex Systems Thinking which is now available on @amazon and @bookdepository : https://t.co/6FIx025G4y
It’s been a busy year on Papers Past, with the release of the Press up to 1961, and more on the way – but we figured we’d end the year with a bang. We've just added a new content format (books), and a new collection in Ngā Tānga Reo Māori. Check it out at https://t.co/zHgAuED2yP
Leaders need to consider this... “In today’s world, everything exists in relationship to everything else. The ways we talk together need to reflect this with a spirit of inquiry and relational ‘both – and’ thinking.“ Joan Dalton 2010. https://t.co/Uh2ZB7pb9u @EvaluationAssoc
A powerful blog about teacher agency-it’s “about having the power and choices to be active in your learning, and about making decisions that make a positive difference to your professional growth as a teacher, and to the rangatahi you serve.”

“Vocabulary matters. International research over many years indicates a relationship between vocabulary knowledge and secondary school achievement.” Read Julie’s blog for some tips on boosting vocab in your classroom!
Make sure you have a read of our latest blog by Julie Luxton. In this blog Julie writes about how incorporating explicit vocabulary teaching and learning will help the word-poor become richer in our classrooms. Another must-read! You can find it here: https://t.co/zlc8z2QXIQ
“Mistakes are a natural part of learning, but students cannot develop into critical thinkers if they regularly freeze out of the fear of making a mistake. As educators, we can shift the culture of our classrooms to embrace mistakes” https://t.co/fCLV7ZmDyh

Reciprocal learning is a great strategy to use when you’re aiming to activate students as resources for each other or if you’re wanting to explore power sharing in your classroom. This is the kind of stuff I love to see in kids’ learning!
