@MarcNixon24 Hang on….he used the word climate once in his response and then as part of a longer list of things that middle power countries that band together might rally around. Your summary of his words isn’t even close to what was said…
@USAmbCanada This post will help me to continue to avoid buying anything I can avoid from US sources. I’m sure border states are very pleased to see this….again….its getting old.
@RevZekveld@brentprint I’ve not changed anything….your original post “when you ignore arson and vandalism of churches” still overstates the issue. It’s not been ignored…investigations have happened which show that in many cases the fires were not arson or statements against Christianity.
@RevZekveld What would you expect to be done? Arson is a criminal offence. Every fire, attended by a fire department, is investigated. Police have been involved. Some charges have been laid.
@brentprint@RevZekveld There was a spate of them shortly after that, mostly in BC. Following those, every other fire in a church or a building that had been a church was eyed differently. Many were arson at all.
@RevZekveld Acknowledged that there is some arson, yes. But, is it fair to characterize that arson as a sign of hatred toward Christian’s across the country. Arsonists have all sorts of reasons for burning things.
@loveistheark@RevZekveld 2021 to 2023 saw the most church fires reported following the revelations in Kamloops. In only nine cases were arson charges laid. In some cases the buildings were no longer being used as churches, some were abandoned and derelict. It was a class of fire that was newsworthy
@RevZekveld Jesus says his followers will be persecuted. That persecution doesn’t come because they are standing up for their own rights but because they are advocating for the marginalized, the prisoners, the widows and orphans., bringing the kingdom into the world.
@RevZekveld Not sure a response would make any difference. COVID lockdowns were not aimed particularly at Christians. Bill C9 actually prevents demonstrations of hate outside places of worship, never mentions the Bible or singles out Christians. It feels like you are looking for offence.
@LoriMcD41841059@8wintersummer8@RevZekveld What percentage of those 100 churches were burned by anti Christian arsonists. I served a church where there was a fire which, had it not been for firefighters, would have been part of the 100. It was caused by a defective baby monitor.
