Rep. Debbie Dingell

Proudly serving the people of Michigan's 6th Congressional District. Chair of @HouseDPCC.

Ann Arbor Fire Station #4 is now open—and it was named in honor of the city’s first woman firefighter, Mindy Kerr! Grateful for the work Mindy and all of Michigan’s firefighters do to keep our communities safe.

Ran into David Hogg at the UM tailgates. Always great to cheer on the Wolverines with people working to make a difference. Go Blue!

[Rep. Debbie Dingell @RepDebDingell]

It’s game day! Excited to watch the Wolverines take on the reigning national champion, Indiana. Today also marks a historic milestone: Michigan’s 800th game as a Big Ten member. Go Blue!

My Ann Arbor office received a suspicious letter yesterday, consistent with reports from other congressional offices. Because we knew what to expect, it was not opened in our office, and local law enforcement and the FBI are handling.

Threats like this are unacceptable. My offices are open, and no one should let the senders of these letters intimidate us.

Today’s ICE enforcement activity in Canton near a school resulted in a school lockdown and understandably caused fear and concern throughout the community. The local police department was not notified in advance.

I have been in contact with ICE, which acknowledged that there were issues with today’s enforcement activities. I will continue working with ICE, the township supervisor, and other relevant parties to address these concerns.

It’s homecoming at UM! Cheering on the Wolverines as they play Penn State here in Ann Arbor. Go Blue!

Stopped by Alpha House’s 31st Annual Gimmie Shelter. Everyone deserves a safe, permanent place to call home, and I will continue working to expand families’ access to the support and resources they need.

My thoughts and prayers are with Congressman Krishnamoorthi, the people of Aurora, and Hindu and Indian American communities across the country in the wake of this horrific attempted attack.

No one should have to fear for their safety because of their faith. This hate has no place in America, and we all must stand up to it whenever and wherever we see it.

Always enjoy spending time with students at the University Michigan.

With these young leaders ready to make their mark, I am confident Michigan’s future will be bright.

[Rep. Debbie Dingell @RepDebDingell]

66 years ago today, President Kennedy delivered a speech to students on the steps of the Michigan Union that would inspire the creation of the Peace Corps. Since then, thousands of homes have been built, children have been taught, and lives have been saved through their work.

Happy Indigenous Peoples’ Day!

Today we celebrate the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of Indigenous communities across our country.

The president is continuing to abuse his power three weeks before an election.

This is unprecedented, but unfortunately not surprising. Donald Trump has repeatedly targeted Congresswoman Omar with hateful rhetoric, contributing to death threats and violence.

Political disagreements should never justify intimidation. No president should use the power of the federal government to threaten, silence, or intimidate political opponents.

President Trump’s attempts to interfere with the Fed and fire Lisa Cook are nothing more than a political witch hunt. Lisa has been cleared of these baseless allegations, and this is yet another attempt by the president to push the limits of his power. Our economy needs steady stewardship, not politics.

If a community chooses to build a data center, it should be the companies the bear the costs — not hardworking families.

[Rep. Debbie Dingell @RepDebDingell]

People deserve to have their voices heard in any discussion on proposed data centers.

I am working on a data center Bill of Rights to ensure people have a seat at the table in the decision-making process and are not footing the check for any projects in their communities.

[Rep. Debbie Dingell @RepDebDingell]

We need answers and accountability from United Airlines.

No woman should have to put up with this — I don’t care if it’s on a plane, train, in the workplace, or anywhere else.

[Rep. Debbie Dingell @RepDebDingell]

President Trump is living in a bubble.

People have real concerns about what data centers could do to their communities. We need federal guardrails that make sure people are heard and they are not forced to foot the bill for these projects.

ICYMI: Michigan is investing $89M to clean up and restore the Detroit River, Kalamazoo River, and waterways across the state.

The Reclaim the Rivers initiative will address pollution, restore habitat and create new opportunities for fishing & recreation. https://t.co/KR386Y2Gq7

[Rep. Debbie Dingell @RepDebDingell]

I hear from Michiganders who are afraid about what data centers being developed in their communities will mean for them.

That is why I am working on federal guardrails that ensure people have a seat at the table in the decision-making process.
