They’ve always known the Voting Rights Act was never just about ballots. It’s about power. Representation. And whose voices count in America.
The attacks we’re seeing today are not new. They’re coordinated.
I break down the history, the strategy, and why this moment demands action from all of us.

250 years ago, America was founded on a promise that we are all created equal, with the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. This Fourth of July, we have so much to celebrate and even more to protect. #America250#FourthofJuly
No veteran should have to spend decades fighting for the care and benefits they earned. Veterans who served at the Nevada Test and Training Range were exposed to radiation and toxins while serving our country. Many are now living with serious health conditions but still face barriers to getting the help they deserve. That is unacceptable.
Nevada’s delegation is united in this fight because taking care of our veterans is nonpartisan. We owe these veterans recognition, accountability, and access to the benefits they were promised. #NV04

For years, one of the biggest challenges in Las Vegas has been the deepening housing crisis. Nevada families looking to put down roots in their own communities have been pushed out and out-bid by Wall Street investors and corporate landlords. I have listened to their concerns, worked on solutions, and am happy to share that with the passage of the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act that became a reality. Congress did its job, now it’s time for the President to do his.
Nevada just joined 25 states suing to stop the Trump administration from pushing sick and disabled people off Medicaid. Arkansas already ran this experiment. 18,000 people lost coverage. Zero new jobs. Health care is a lifeline, not a reward for paperwork.

Families celebrating the Fourth of July with a cookout will find that the prices at the grocery store closely reflect inflation increases over the last year. An Independence Day cookout will cost $73.82 for 10 guests this year, according to the 2026 American Farm Bureau Federation annual market basket survey, which is a 4% increase from last year.
Extreme heat can be dangerous, especially for older adults, children, outdoor workers, pets, and anyone without reliable air conditioning. Clark County has activated daytime cooling stations at rec centers, libraries, and community centers to help residents stay safe during this period of extreme heat. Some locations are even pet friendly. Please drink plenty of water, avoid being outside during the hottest hours of the day, and check on your neighbors. Find a cooling station near you, by visiting the link in my bio and stay safe, Nevada. #NV04

Las Vegas is, once again, the top destination to celebrate the Fourth of July. That is good news for our tourism economy, hospitality workers, small businesses, and everyone who helps make Las Vegas the entertainment capital of the world. But we also know the lower hotel rates are a sign that the Trump Slump is real. Our tourism economy is strongest when visitors can afford to come here, and workers can afford to live here. I will keep fighting to lower costs, support good-paying jobs, and make sure Las Vegas continues to lead in hospitality. #NV04

The Supreme Court made the right decision. Birthright citizenship is protected by the 14th Amendment. No president should be able to revoke our Constitutional rights with the stroke of a pen. This ruling is a victory for the Constitution, immigrant families, and the basic promise that if you are born in America, you are an American. In Nevada, we know immigrant families help build our communities, power our economy, and strengthen our future. I will keep fighting to protect that promise. #NV04

This is a step in the right direction but we need a permanent fix. That’s why I introduced the FULL HOUSE Act to codify fair treatment for taxpayers and end the gambling loss deduction cap once and for all. I’ll continue leading this effort until it becomes law.
NEW: IRS to hold a public hearing on 90% gambling loss deduction cap IF at least 1 person submits a request to appear along with an outline no later than Tuesday, July 7.
Hearing to be held at 10am ET on July 17. A telephone number & access code will be required to attend the meeting.
During today's @WaysMeansCmte hearing, I highlighted the immense impact that tourism, shows, and events have on our communities in Southern Nevada. An example: BTS's sold-out, four show run at Allegiant Stadium, which generated more than $340 million in economic activity.
Tourism creates jobs, supports small businesses, and strengthens our economy. We need policies that keep Nevada competitive and our tourism industry thriving.
An important reminder from @RepHorsford about the 90% gambling tax deduction at today's Ways & Means hearing: players shouldn't be taxed on income they never earned.
Restoring the 100% gambling loss deduction is a top priority for the AGA.
First it was housing affordability. Now it’s military readiness.
House Republicans are willing to jeopardize the annual defense bill by attaching the SAVE Act or what should really be called the “Suppress American Voters Everywhere Act” another attempt to make it harder for eligible Americans to cast a ballot.
When even Senate Republicans warn this could sink the NDAA, it’s clear this isn’t about strengthening our military. It’s about advancing voting restrictions.
Our troops deserve a clean defense bill. The American people deserve free and fair elections, not legislation that puts military readiness at risk while making it harder for eligible citizens to vote.
🚨🚨Speaker Mike Johnson confirms he plans to MIRV the SAVE America Act with the NDAA after the House passes the defense policy bill
Senate GOP leaders have warned this - attaching SAVE to NDAA after it passes House - will sink the bill in the Senate
“I have to do my job in the House, and they've got to do their job in the Senate, so we'll see what happens,” Johnson tells @politico
Q: Will you sign that housing bill?
TRUMP: It hasn't been sent to me yet. It's coming I understand, and then I'll make the determination. Big deal. It's a yawn.
As Birmingham Tech Week comes to a close, I had the honor of participating in a fireside chat with @RepHorsford, @RepBynum, and TechBirmingham’s @deongordon.
We must ensure that every community benefits from the rapid advancements in technology that are reshaping our economy and our lives. Conversations like this will help inform our policymaking in the months and years ahead.
I just toured Bush Hills STEAM Academy and Ed Farm in Birmingham alongside @RepHorsford and @RepBynum! We learned about the importance of digital literacy and the amazing work they are doing to prepare young learners for the technology jobs of tomorrow!
This is exactly why Congress should have had a say before President Trump launched another costly conflict overseas. The White House is now asking for nearly $88 billion in additional funding, mostly tied to war with Iran, including billions for military operations, weapons, fuel, drones, and classified programs. Nevada families should not foot the bill for an unauthorized war that creates more instability abroad and higher costs at home. I will keep fighting for accountability, congressional oversight, and an economy focused on working families, not endless conflict. #NV04

Congress passed a bipartisan housing bill to make homes more affordable and stop large corporations from buying up single-family homes. This is the kind of action Nevada families need. It builds on the work I have been fighting for through the HOME Act. The 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act is lowering costs, increasing housing supply, and giving working families a fair shot at homeownership. But now, housing relief is being delayed for political leverage. Nevadans cannot afford more games while rents remain high, mortgage costs strain families, and too many people are locked out of the housing market. We did our job. It is time to get this done.
