@paulwaugh@Nigel_Farage Maybe the banks have the same rights to decline customers unaligned with their values as say, I dunno, a baker in Northern Ireland who didn’t want to make a wedding cake for a gay couple. You see the hypocrisy right?
@JulianSmithUK And yet you remain in a party which is adopting more and more anti LGBQTI+ postures and rhetoric. Did you catch Danny Kruger’s contributions to the recent Nat-C conference? The Tories are a party of bigots with some liberals in it
@profsked Yet Farage’s account was closed because he fell below the minimum balance for Coutts. But as private sector businesses shouldn’t they be allowed to choose who they want as customers? You know like homophobic bakers in Northern Ireland?
@danielmgmoylan Are you going to republish the Zinoviev Letter soon? You know democracy means sometimes your side loses elections, right? Or do you want to see permanent rule by the “right” people? You sir, are a dickhead
@GoodwinMJ Most Brits abhor racism, sexism and homophobia and no amount of calling those beliefs “woke” will disguise the fact you are sore because you can’t say “n*gger” and “p*ki” anymore. Woke is an empty insult. What you’re really saying is you want to be free to be a loathsome bigot
@Miss_Snuffy Jess Philips is one of the most open, tolerant and honest politicians in this country and a long standing anti-racist campaigner. You’ve spent an entire career cozying up to Tory bigots who insist racism doesn’t exist in the U.K. Your opportunism and hypocrisy are appalling
@toryboypierce @CouttsandCo Andrew are you stating as fact that the reason they closed his accounts is because of his views? Do you know how AML / KYC risk assessments work for PEPs? I know a lot of PEPs and they’ve had no trouble proving source of funds because they get paid PAYE.
@Fuzzypants14 @toryboypierce @mailplus It’s illegal to engage in money laundering and sanctions evasion. Banks have a legal obligation to monitor transactions to avoid enabling this. AML/KYC is vitally important in maintaining peace and public safety.
@Fuzzypants14 @toryboypierce @mailplus Yes even corrupt politicians, drug dealers and criminals should have the right to introduce illicit money into the banking system right?
@toryboypierce @mailplus You probably know how banks work in regard to risk. You also probably know they tend not to bank PEPs who have a risk of banking money from opaque sources; he’s a friend of Trump, he’s known to have had ties to Russia. His views are irrelevant, this is about managing risk
@DouglasKMurray@Telegraph Oh grow up. Are you so threatened and fragile that when people of colour point our racism you go into denial mode (and if race is no longer a “thing”, why are you so concerned about the percentage of non-white people in Newham)?
@JakeBerry Jake do you think MPs - even Tory ones - are above the law, domestic or international? You are a cynical stoker of fear and prejudice. It’s the only card you’ve got left to play. I hope your conscience returns some day
