As America marks its 250th anniversary, it's worth remembering that the constitutional safeguard of the speech or debate clause predates the nation itself.

That fact proves how fundamental this protection is meant to be for the people's representatives.

Yesterday, we learned that the Biden-led DOJ and FBI spied on Members of Congress, accessing privileged information transmitted to and from former Trump-White House personnel during Special Counsel Jack Smith’s out-of-control investigation.

I was one of 44 Members of Congress whose information Smith’s team seized.

Those who knew about, supported, and led this operation against the opposition party – among others during the Biden Administration – must be held accountable for their actions.

This Congress, I've introduced the Space Research Innovation Act to allow the National Aeronautics and Space Administration to partner with universities to conduct deep-space research and mission development.

Not only do American universities benefit from some of the world's best scientists, they are also natural incubators of multidisciplinary research and private sector cooperation. Best of all, NASA missions affiliated with universities have a proven track record of reaching completion on-time and on-budget.

As the United States launches into the space age yet again, I'm working with my colleagues to pass this legislation.

American citizens come first.

This principle isn't radical. It's the basic bargain of citizenship, and this Congress should state that clearly.

Today, I spoke in favor of H. Res. 1394, which condemns prosecution policies that give preferential treatment to foreign nationals over United States citizens. This isn't a left or right issue; it's an American issue.
