Join me online on June 16th for a discussion about what it takes to help families thrive and the critical role Congress plays in making it happen.

On the anniversary of D-Day, we pay tribute to U.S. and Allied Forces who served during World War II and remember the service members whose bravery on the beaches and in the skies above Normandy and Nazi-occupied France changed the course of history.
Exclusive: In a memo sent to ICE employees, acting director David Venturella said the agency is eliminating its requirement to report deaths that occur within 30 days of people being released from its custody. https://t.co/vZVJ2iE1EQ

The Constitution guarantees due process under the law. It is a fundamental right that protects the liberty of all - citizen and non-citizen alike.
This right has come under attack by the Trump Administration. I thank Governor Sherrill for taking steps to protect New Jerseyans.
NEWS: We are increasing funding for the Detention Deportation Defense Initiative by $12 million – for a total of $20.2 million.
We are also launching a Rapid Legal Response Initiative to expand statewide legal capacity for emergency immigration defense and support immigrant families across New Jersey.
These actions will help ensure more people in New Jersey's communities receive due process under the law and more New Jersey attorneys are mobilized to stand up for the fundamental human rights of detainees and their families.
I questioned DHS Secretary Mullin about Delaney Hall, and he refused to provide real answers or take accountability.
I told him what I saw firsthand inside the facility and it was shocking.
We cannot turn a blind eye to these conditions. It’s time to shut down Delaney Hall.
June is Caribbean American Heritage Month, a time to celebrate the vibrant cultures, traditions, and contributions of Caribbean Americans in the 12th District, from our Haitian American communities, to our Jamaican American neighbors, and our Dominican American friends.
The House just passed a War Powers resolution to end a conflict that Trump started without a plan or strategy.
Democrats had repeatedly forced votes since the war began, but GOP leadership blocked them. Their obstruction has cost the nation billions and has caused economic pain for everyday Americans, from groceries to the gas pump. It's also cost the lives of over a thousand Iranians.
Today's vote is a win for the people. The Senate must act quickly to hold this president accountable for his recklessness.
During Immigrant Heritage Month, we honor the courage and determination of immigrants who have helped shape our nation’s history and to make New Jersey the best place to live in the country.
Trump's War in Iran is not only illegal and reckless, but it's hurting Americans-- especially at the gas pump. In New Jersey, prices have risen to an average of $4.34.

This is the 2nd time he's said this so I have to assume he means it.
If Van Drew thinks its acceptable that the conditions of "half of America" are worse than a private detention center... I'm... I'm not sure what to say to him about who promised to improve the lives of the average American.
Congressman Jeff Van Drew on Delaney Hall, where detainees are paid $1/day or less for their work and are on hunger strike: "This is better treatment than people generally receive... the conditions are better than 90% of the world lives in, and probably half of America."
Chairman @BennieGThompson is rightfully raising the alarm of racism and White Nationalism within the Government. DHS Secretary Mullin seems more concerned that using the term, "white nationalism" is racist and offensive. Who's feelings is he trying to protect?
White Nationalism runs counter to the values of America. It is contrary to American patriotism.
Secretary Mullin seems confused.
U.S. citizens have been stopped and detained by ICE multiple times because of how they look - that is racial profiling.
Racial profiling is racism and it's standard practice at Trump's DHS.
Newark Mayor @rasjbaraka tells @TedShermanSL that the city of Newark is preparing a federal lawsuit against the operators of Delaney Hall, the privately operated immigration deportation facility that has become the focus of increasingly violent protests over the treatment of those detained there.
The complaint, which would focus on health and safety concerns at the 1,000 bed facility, may be filed as early as Tuesday.
We will keep telling the stories of those inside Delaney Hall to counter the Trump Administration’s false narrative of who our immigrant neighbors are.
Private prison companies like GeoGroup are raking in your taxpayer dollars. GeoGroup could improve conditions at Delaney but choose their profits instead.
