I was proud to vote in favor of the Stop Child Care Scams Act to combat ongoing fraud within the Child Care and Development Block Grant Program.

This legislation stops states from ignoring repeated fraud and serious violations in child care assistance programs. When states fail to enforce the rules, HHS will be required to withhold funds — protecting taxpayers and making sure child care dollars go to families who need help, not bad actors gaming the system.

Marie Kruse recently received the 2026 Outstanding Teacher Award from Minnesota Agriculture in the Classroom and the Excellence in Teaching About Agriculture Award from the National Agriculture in the Classroom organization. Ag educators play a critical role in our #MN01 schools, and it was an honor for my team to present Marie with a flag and certificate in recognition of her accomplishments and passion for teaching future generations about the importance of agriculture. The Rochester area recently received $13.3 million for community projects, including a $1.2 million federal investment I helped secure to construct a roundabout on 4th Street in Rochester. I recently visited the site to see the progress being made and the positive impact it will have on the community firsthand. I’m proud to support infrastructure investments that improve safety and strengthen southern Minnesota.

My legislation, the GRAIN DRY Act, was included in the 2026 Farm Bill to enhance farmers’ access to propane supplies. I joined Lakes Gas in Essig to get a better understanding of their propane fuel operations and hear how they work to supply the propane that folks in #MN01 need for drying corn, heating barns and homes, and fueling school buses and fleet vehicles. ICE @HSISaintPaul arrested U.S. citizens Shamso Ahmed Hassan and Hanaan Mursal Yusuf for their alleged roles in a scheme to defraud Medicaid of $21.1M by exploiting a Minnesota program.

Hassan allegedly enrolled the following two companies as service providers for the Minnesota Early Intensive Development and Behavioral Intervention Program:
• Smart Therapy Center LLC
• Star Autism Center LLC

➡️Both subjects allegedly submitted false and fraudulent claims to Medicaid from May 2020 to December 2024 using both companies.

➡️Both subjects were taken into custody at their shared home and remain in federal custody pending judicial proceedings.

🔎This is an @FBI-led investigation. ICE @HSI_HQ is proud to be a part of the investigative team enforcing @POTUS Trump’s mandate to end benefits fraud.

As the State of Minnesota continues to prevent @USDA from auditing its SNAP rolls, an individual has been charged with traveling across state lines to Rochester and stealing nearly $50,000 in assistance meant to support Minnesotans in need. We must continue federal oversight and enforcement, ensuring justice is served to those who defraud our taxpayer-funded programs.
