Today, I voted with members of both parties to end the unauthorized war in Iran, in order to bring service members home, rein in out-of-control spending, and stop the chaos that is driving prices through the roof for American families.
Iran should never have a nuclear weapon, but for months, the Administration has failed to explain exactly what their goals are and how they’re going to end this war. Every day they delay is another day the lives of men and women of our military are at risk.
It’s dangerous to continue spending billions of dollars on a war without goals while families and seniors struggle to make ends meet. Gas has been well over $4 per gallon, and cuts to health care and food assistance are pushing budgets to the brink. The people I represent have been asking for lower costs, not another forever war in the Middle East.
Happy #NationalRotisserieChickenDay. It's an especially great day for:
1.) a tater tot casserole, and
2.) the Senate to pass our common-sense bill to allow working families on SNAP to buy a hot rotisserie chicken. 🍗
Thank you to the students from @CarmanAinsworth who came by to say hello during their trip to Washington. It’s always great to see our kids’ civics lessons come to life in our nation’s capital.
While families struggle to put food on the table, CEOs are getting multimillion-dollar raises. It’s not right.
We need to replace tax cuts for billionaires with tax cuts that help working parents make ends meet. https://t.co/QUseASmCWm
Cash for new moms leads to healthier babies and happier families. Need proof? Just look to Flint.
Rx Kids is working, and the whole country is starting to notice.

It’s beyond frustrating when your money is stuck because the government made a mistake or is taking too long. That’s where our team comes in to cut red tape and get your money back.
We’ve returned over $10 million to the residents of Genesee, Saginaw, Bay, and Midland counties, so if you’re having problems, know we’re here to help.
Gas, groceries, and child care costs are through the roof, and no one feels that harder than working families. We’re teaming up with @MomsRising to give the stories of working moms from all across the country the attention they deserve in Washington, and to drive solutions that will actually help.
Thank you to the folks with Saginaw County Veterans Memorial Plaza and McFarlan Veterans Memorial Park in Flint for putting on beautiful Memorial Day ceremonies today. They do remarkable work year-round to preserve those memorials and honor the mid-Michigan servicemembers who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Memorial Day reminds us that freedom is not free. It’s defended every day by the brave men and women in our armed services.
Today, we honor those who gave their lives to protect that freedom, our nation, and the ideals we hold so dearly.
For 61 years, Head Start has helped millions of kids get ready for a lifetime of learning. When I worked for Michigan Head Start, I saw the difference it made that those kids had a loving, safe place to learn and play.
While extremists try to defund Head Start, I’ll fight them at every turn and stand up for our kids.
@SenatorSlotkin is right: American farmers shouldn’t have to compete with the Chinese Communist Party for farmland.
The Senate needs to pass our bipartisan bill that will stop the CCP from buying up our land — protecting family farmers and our national security.
While we are still learning the full results of President Trump's summit with President Xi, this is a clear step backward and a full 180 from his first term. American farmland should be for American farmers -- not for the Chinese Communist Party. @RepKMR and I have a bipartisan bill to prevent CCP purchases of Michigan's farmland, which has passed the House in the Farm Bill.
President Trump's apparent capitulation to the Chinese government on this issue makes it even more urgent that the Senate passes our bill immediately. We need to protect America's land and our national security.

Today, the Islamic Center of San Diego was the site of a deadly shooting. Another attack on a place of worship. Another reminder that hate and violence are threatening the basic promise that people should be able to gather in peace and practice their faith without fear.
I’m grateful to the law enforcement officers and first responders who acted quickly and courageously.
Tonight, Joseph and I are holding the victims, their families, and Muslim communities in California, Michigan, and around the world in our prayers. Hate has no place in this country.
To the men and women of law enforcement, thank you for all you do to protect our neighborhoods. One of the most important parts of my job is bringing home the resources you need to do your job and get home safe at the end of every shift. #NationalPoliceWeek
Actually, American farmland belongs to AMERICAN farmers, not the Chinese Communist Party.
Our bipartisan bill that STOPS China from buying up our land passed the House as part of the Farm Bill. For our farm economy, grocery prices, and national security, clearly, it’s time to sign it into law.
NOW - Trump says it's good to have 500,000 foreign Chinese students in the U.S. and for China to purchase U.S. farmland; otherwise, colleges and farm prices would collapse: "I frankly think that it's good that people come from other countries and they learn our culture."
Last night, we honored the late Senator Don Riegle with a moment of silence on the Floor of the House of Representatives. A fighter for working people in Flint and across Michigan, may he rest in peace.
Big news - we just got year-round E15 passed through the House. This will be big not only for families that need a break at the gas pump, but also for Michigan’s family farms. 🌽⛽
Not news to anybody: gas prices are too damn high.
It’s time Washington gets the memo and takes commonsense steps to bring them down:
🪖end the war
🌽allow year-round E15
📈prevent big oil from price gouging
If your kid gets a concussion at practice, you shouldn’t have to join a months-long waitlist or drive for hours just to get them in front of a specialist.
I’m so excited about Insight Health System’s new pediatric neurology center in Flint, so families can get expert care closer to home.
