On WBD some of our children were taken to @WaterstoneDerby to pick a book. They behaved perfectly and loved the chance to choose a book from a book shop. The staff at Waterstone's were so welcoming and helpful. Thanks to @ReptonSchool for the use of the minibus for the afternoon.

This week we have been celebrating World Book Day all week with lots of reading activities taking place. Today, on WBD, staff and children are dressed as book characters (more pics later) and we have 32 reading volunteers in the hall so that every child gets to read to an adult.

Our Year 6 pupils had a fantastic time @ReptonScience priory today. They extracted their own DNA and used bunsen burners to investigate the colour of different elements. Thanks to Miss Goodman and the team @Reptonschool for hosting us!

Today Mr Tague represented RPS at the Village Hall pancake tossing competition - 64 in 1 minute!

This morning we were treated to some fantastic jazz music as @HHMusicDerby performed in our assembly to promote jazz and brass instruments. If your child might be interested in learning one they have been asked to get a letter from the school office.

Yesterday I posted the very first of my new 'Good News' postcards. These are just a way of acknowledging those wonderful things I encounter every day in our amazing school. Keep an eye out as one might be dropping through your letter box soon! Mr Tague.

Today our Year 5 and 6 pupils had an exciting taster session on G.O.A.L (Game of Actual Life). This session delivered by @PremEd_Derby is part of our plan for preparing our pupils for later life.

We also had a visit from 4 students from @ReptonSchool to deliver an after school sports session to some of our year 5 and 6 pupils. It's great to have this link between the two schools. The children really enjoyed the session.

On Friday our school council organised a cake sale to raise money to help the animals that have been displaced or injured in the recent Australian bush fires. The event was a huge success and raised an amazing £309! Thanks to the generosity of all our parents and friends.

Today, 4 lucky RPS Superstar wristband children went to Findern Garden Centre with Mr Tague to collect some new fish for our fish tank. They were also treated to a snack and a drink in the cafe @dobbies
