By continuing to carry out his genocidal campaign against the people of #Tigray, #Isaias obviously is reminding the world he is in charge & unrepentant. Unfortunately the international community seems to have fallen for the trick. He responds to pressure & so do his partners!
"#Eritrean forces killed 111 people, according to an internal report compiled b/n Nov. 17 & Nov. 23 by Tigray’s ECC & seen by Bloomberg. The authority also reported 103 people had been severely injured, while 241 houses were destroyed" #EritreaOutOfTigray https://t.co/EwzN3w8BU7
It’s our hope and expectation that the international community play its role to support the parties to the recent peace agreement to keep their respective ends of the commitment. Congressman @BradSherman is obviously doing his part. https://t.co/9rZs1Pxs2d
We have concluded our long drawn out deliberations/negotiations on a peaceful path to resolving the war on/in Tigray. What lies ahead and how we handle it is far more consequential than the distance travelled thus far. As Aesop would say, Hic Rhodus, Hic Salta!
The #Isaias-led invading forces in Tigray have stepped up their scorched earth policy against civilians wherever they have set foot. The killings in southern, central, eastern and northwestern Tigray clearly show that the genocidal intent of both regimes is on full display & they
There is no other situation 🌍 in which 6 million people have been kept under siege for almost 2 years like in #Tigray, Ethiopia. This is a health crisis. I urge the intl. community to give this crisis the attention it deserves. There is a narrow window now to prevent genocide.
We welcome the talks beginning today between the government of Ethiopia and Tigrayan authorities. We call on the delegations to reach an immediate cessation of hostilities, the first step towards peace.
Eritrean and Ethiopian forces carpet bombing #Tigray cities almost daily. Civilians are being killed and the wounded that could have been saved are dying due to lack of treatment and urgently needed care. The siege must end and humanitarian aid allowed in.
I’ve been wondering the same - where is humanity? Health system in #Tigray is completely destroyed & 6 million people are deprived of access to health care for almost 2 years. @WHO & partners need immediate, safe & sustained access to deliver health aid. https://t.co/Ac8ULFCvxv
.@UN’s International Commission of Human Rights Experts on #Ethiopia has concluded that ‘crimes against humanity’ have been committed in #Tigray, weaponising food, medicines, telephone, banking services deliberately to seal off the population & denying them humanitarian aid.
I have learnt from credible sources team of Russian military advisors helping Eritrean army in its offensive on Tigray. It is not clear if the team is from Wagner.
Russia has a stake in outcome of conflict. If Afewerki prevails that is a big strategic gain for Moscow.
We condemn attacks on civilians in #Tigray. As long as the fighting continues, innocent lives will be at risk. Ayder Referral Hospital has been short on medicines, equipment & staff to treat patients for months. We urge Ethiopian & Eritrean govts to work for peace & end the siege
The EU has been consistent in its call on the Eritrean and other forces to withdraw from Tigray. It’s our expectation that all other major players will put pressure on the #AbiyRegime to renounce its duplicitous deal with the Regime in Asmara.
