Virnig notes that there is always someone at CMS who will find new research data interesting -- though they may not reach out to the researcher. But researchers can also send their papers to the CMS coverage group and/or @resdac_cmsdata#ihpi18
"CMS does watch the literature," says Virnig - and notes that @resdac_cmsdata will point out important and buzzworthy findings to CMS. She also mentions that CMS staff attend large conference esp. in DC. "CMS is trying very hard to innovate." #ihpi18

@MikeTPhD@UM_IHPI @UMichCHOPFellow However, based on CCW's codebook (https://t.co/9lBErSkOj2), the CLM_CLNCL_TRIL_NUM may not be reliable because this is voluntarily reported, not required by CMS.
@MikeTPhD@UM_IHPI @UMichCHOPFellow I guess we'll jump in here: Yes, there is a way to identify this using the claims. The variable is CLM_CLNCL_TRIL_NUM, which is located in the Carrier file.
