@LDS_Dems I believe our gospel study should proportionally mirror the topics in the scriptures and teachings of the prophets.
The frequency of faith, hope, charity comes up a lot more than infinite regression. We are benefitted more studying the former more than the latter.
Are pork or shellfish inherently evil or bad for your health? No but God asked the Israelites to abstain for a time.
Is cutting your hair inherently evil? No but a Nazarite was asked to abstain in their vows.
I don’t believe that coffee is inherently evil and I don’t care about its health consequences. We are asked to abstain and I love keeping covenants.
I think the top 3 sins have everything to do with denying agency.
Deny the Holy Ghost-you are rejecting the Savior’s agency to save.
Commit Murder-you are ending someone’s agency in this earthly life.
Commit Adultery-you are potentially stopping the agency of a child to be born in the covenant or at least to a mother and father.
I’m open to both ideas but the thing I don’t know how to get around is whether the Atonement is an experience that can be given. There’s nothing about going into a grove and falling on your face that would cause you to bleed from every pore but Christ needed to descend below all to fulfill the law of love and know how to succor his people. So as we progress to become like God is that experience necessary to gain all understanding?
The 12th temple recommend interview question is: Do you have any financial or other obligations to a former spouse or to children?
I believe if you aren’t living up to your obligations to your current family you are equally not temple worthy.
When you consider that the simplest proteins require 40-50+ precisely organized amino acids and that the simplest cells require 100-300+ proteins all organized and fulfilling complimentary and differing functions all occurring in near proximity to each other the odds of inorganic materials producing anything organic is astoundingly impossible with divine direction.
We spent an eternity in the premortal existence with the greatest teachers and yet we still needed to come to this earth to learn and gain experience. I believe our bodies act as an accelerator for learning. https://t.co/3R66A1aahJ
This feels relevant in today’s theological debates. An accusation is levied against the faith, the accusation is refuted, and they move to another topic never acknowledging the explanation. If the case holds it deserves consideration, not evasion.
@HolyRebellion11 I’m always amazed at the arguments people will give for not believing Joseph Smith. “The First Vision doesn’t have a date” somehow I doubt that if the date were known that would restore his faith. Reminds me of a friend that left because the seer stone looked like a normal rock.
Here’s a look inside the missionary assignment room.
This is where my fellow apostles and I come frequently to assign the thousands of missionaries that are applying to serve missions all over the world.
This process is inspired, revelatory, and I love it with all my heart.
