Paul is my fave in the Bible (after Jesus, obviously) because he went from “I arrest Christians” to “I am the Christian your mom warned you about” in like 5 minutes after meeting Jesus. Elite character development.
Quick recap:
• Used to be Saul, Christian hunter
• Jesus knocks him down & blinds him
• Whole life flips
• New name: Paul
• Spends the rest of his life starting churches, going to jail, writing half the New Testament & refusing to shut up about Jesus 💀
Funniest Bible story to me is Acts 20. Paul is preaching so long a dude named Eutychus falls asleep in a 3rd-story window, falls out, and dies. Paul raises him from the dead… and then just goes right back to preaching. “Anyway, as I was saying…” 😭
Paul really said:
“My sermon may kill you but don’t worry, I’ll just raise you up and finish my 47-point message.”
Chaotic apostle energy. 10/10 my fave.
That’s why I love Paul: dramatic backstory, painfully honest, gets beat up for his faith, still writes about grace, AND accidentally preaches a guy to death then brings him back just to keep going. Iconic.
Balaam out here arguing with his DONKEY and doesn’t even realize it’s weird until later. Biblically accurate red flag: when the animal has more spiritual discernment than you. 🫏😅
450 prophets of Baal vs Elijah alone. They’re trying to get Baal to send fire. They’re dancing, shouting, cutting themselves. Nothing happens. Elijah starts roasting them:
“Shout louder, maybe he’s sleeping. Maybe he’s traveling. Maybe he’s… using the bathroom.”
Then Elijah prays once, God sends fire so strong it burns the offering, wood, stones, and water.
God: “Go preach to Nineveh.”
Jonah: “No 💀” runs the opposite way
God: “Bet.” sends storm, big fish, etc.
Nineveh actually repents, God shows mercy. Jonah… gets mad about God being gracious. Then a plant grows to give him shade, then dies, and Jonah says he’s “angry enough to die” over the plant.
Peter’s whole life with Jesus is just:
Step 1: Do something insanely bold.
Step 2: Panic halfway through.
Step 3: Jesus saves him anyway.
Relatable, honestly. 🌊
James really went from “that’s just my brother Jesus” to “I am a servant of the Lord Jesus Christ” and then proceeded to write the most ‘stop faking it’ letter in the New Testament. Character development.
Paul: deep theology essays.
Peter: chaotic fisherman turned pastor.
James: “Anyway, be quiet, control your mouth, stop playing favorites, actually help the poor, and live what you say you believe.”
James really wrote “your gold is corroded, and its corrosion will testify against you.” In today’s language: “your money’s rotting and it’s gonna snitch.” (James 5:1–3)
