🐚 sea-related fact otd: dwarf sperm whales are extremely unique cetaceans, as they have a sac filled with dark, reddish-brown liquid in their intestines. they use what’s called the “squid tactic” releasing 3+ gallons of this liquid when threatened or trying to escape predators ༄

🪸 sea-related fact otd: there are actually underwater lakes called brine pools. they are extremely dense and extremely salty pools of water, with a salinity that’s 3-8x greater than the surrounding ocean. they are extremely dangerous to most organisms who try to enter them. ༄
