Can only really come up with two examples off the top of my head but I really love that little genre of horror where it’s like a sector of the government is trying to catch the boogeyman.
This is correct I think. There's a big theme of "looming" in the Backrooms movie, and "pressure to conform to something's will"
Many shots (including in the we series) have something dwarfed by something else: Nature looming over civilisation, architecture over people, people over people
The point is, I think, that humans were shaped by nature, but we replaced that environment with our own architecture and human organisation, and now they shape us instead. Mary and her mother pressing their hands into the concrete while the sky looms over them, only for Mary to be anchored in her past by it, shows this quite literally, too.
Assuming it is the internals of our minds and memories, the backrooms is that literally: architecture imposed onto something that can't be properly organised, so the result is to us an almost-intentional infinite space. Which is, in a way, the same relationship our caveman ancestors had to the almost-intentional infinite space that is nature
The Furious is so sick, wild and gnarly stuff front to back. Insane choreography, at times feels like you’re watching a live-action anime or like Popeye
