Introducing FIRST LIGHT & RADIANT LIGHT, two phase 3 trials of oveporexton (TAK-861) for narcolepsy type 1, published September 9, 2026.

Oveporexton is an oral, selective orexin receptor 2 agonist designed to target the underlying orexin pathway.

⚠️ Adverse events occurred in 86–89% with oveporexton vs. 43–54% with placebo.

The most common were increased urinary frequency and transient insomnia.

Take-home: Oveporexton produced substantial improvements in wakefulness, daytime sleepiness, and cataplexy in narcolepsy type 1, supporting orexin-2 receptor agonism as a therapeutic approach.
