Trump forces Ohio University to cancel both their Black Alumni Reunion & Celebrate Women events.
40-year-old traditions have been canceled to comply with Trump's ban on so-called DEI initiatives.
The events bring in $2 million to the local economy—filling up hotels, restaurants and bars.
"I went from like wow... to disappointment... to rage," said board member Anthony Webb. "The reunions have been since the 80's and I've never missed one."
Trump's executive orders threaten to withhold any federal funding from schools that do not promote "patriotic" education.
"The University is obligated to protect our access to critical federal funding, including students’ continued access to federal financial aid," the Ohio University President said.
The Celebrate Women events had been scheduled for March 21, and the Black Alumni Reunion was set to start April 10.
