A young woman recently bought a new car and went to a petrol pump to fill it with petrol. She asked the attendant to put 85 litres in her tank.

After filling the car, the bill showed 85 litres, but her car’s meter showed only 83 litres. When she questioned the staff, they said that the car’s meter must be faulty because it was new.

The argument became heated, and the staff asked her to leave, threatening to call the police. Instead, she called the police herself.

In the presence of the police, the petrol was drained from her tank and measured. It turned out that the tank actually contained exactly 83 litres.

The woman had been charged for 2 litres more, worth around ₹500. She filed a complaint, and after an investigation confirmed that the petrol pump had been tampering with the readings, the authorities suspended its licence for seven days.
