In Robert Eggers’ Werwulf, a cursed husband is torn between the family that loves him and the darkness he is told to fear.

His wife begs for the man she knows to survive. Willem Dafoe’s hunter offers the opposite: embrace the darkness.

That is what makes the story disturbing.

What if the curse isn't creating a monster?

What if it is removing the rules that kept one buried?

Maybe the real horror isn't becoming the beast.

When Tina Turner starred as Aunty Entity in 1985's Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, she endured a grueling 70-pound costume of metal and chainmail that left physical scars.

Surprisingly, director George Miller cast her not for her raw edge, but because her famous real-world warmth made her the ultimate subversion for a post-apocalyptic tyrant.

​Ironically, Hollywood's fascination with Turner often blurred the line between art and exploitation.

Honestly, Beyond Thunderdome is easily the most underrated entry in the franchise, largely because Turner's commanding, nuanced performance elevates it far above a standard action flick.

While Mel Gibson's Max gets top billing, Tina completely steals the movie by making Aunty Entity a deeply compelling leader rather than a one-note villain, proving she deserved a much larger cinematic career.

Aunty Entity is a far more complex and compelling leader than Immortan Joe ever was, and Mad Max films actually suffered creatively by never bringing her back.
