@MoutonIsAClaret The age of the wine will tell you the amount of oxygen needed. That's why we have different shapes of decanters. Some have wider surfaces for bigger contact with air and some (vintage) with smaller openings for less contact. Wines +30 years need micro oxygenation, no decanter .

@MoutonIsAClaret Wrong! What is needed here is microoxygenation... You open the bottle 5 hours in advance and poor a small amount just for the oxygen to touch the wine in the bottle. If you decant, you shock the wine, and you end up drinking colored water...
