@Wisedog4@4AnimalLife@FrankWAuthor Protective Mechanism: Enforces strict annual Tariff-Rate Quotas (TRQs). Low tariff rates apply up to a specific metric-ton limit; once that volume cap is hit, high out-of-quota tariffs kick in on beef imports. We should not be surprised by the hypocrisy.
@Wisedog4@4AnimalLife@FrankWAuthor To shield domestic citrus growers in Florida and California from Brazilian producers (the world's largest orange juice exporter), the U.S. maintains long-standing specific tariffs on imported orange juice.
@Wisedog4@4AnimalLife@FrankWAuthor The U.S. maintains strict Tariff-Rate Quotas (TRQs) on raw and processed peanut imports. Imports exceeding the quota face prohibitive tariff rates (up to 131.8% to 163.8%), effectively barring foreign peanut producers (such as Argentina, India, or China)

@4AnimalLife@Wisedog4@FrankWAuthor U.S. Sugar (Direct Parallel to Canadian Dairy)
The U.S. Sugar Program functions almost identically to Canada’s supply management system, using a tri-part system to insulate domestic growers from international competition:

@Wisedog4@FrankWAuthor Hey fact-check your own BS, dumbass American.
Canada has never actually charged the tariffs on US dairy bc the thresholds for tariffs to kick in has never been met.
41M Canadians STILL buy TWICE as much US dairy as 350M Americans buy from us. YOU need to buy more from Canada !!
@RMapleCan The point your missing is tens of millions of people are ok with this, actually more than OK, they support and promote his views, just let that sink in.
🇺🇸 Amid all the talk about an American auto manufacturing boom, keep track of the jobs going the OTHER direction:
🇺🇸 GM 🔻 ~1,600 jobs
🔻 ~1,000 Fairfax, Kansas
🔻 ~600 Ohio battery operations
🇺🇸 Ford 🔻 ~1,500 jobs
🔻 Battery/EV restructuring and production reductions
🇺🇸 Stellantis 🔻 Thousands
🔻 U.S. salaried and hourly workforce reductions across multiple plants
FOREIGN AUTOMAKERS IN THE U.S. 👇
🇯🇵 Nissan 🔻 ~1,000–1,500 jobs
🔻 Smyrna, Tennessee
🔻 Canton, Mississippi
🔻 Decherd, Tennessee
🇩🇪 Volkswagen 🔻 U.S. reductions
🔻 Chattanooga, Tennessee
🌎 Plus tens of thousands of positions targeted globally
And the bigger picture:
🔻 20,000+ U.S. salaried jobs eliminated by GM, Ford & Stellantis from their respective employment peaks.
🔻 ~27,000 promised U.S. jobs tied to EV/battery projects cancelled since January 2025.
New factories matter. New investment matters.
But so do layoffs, cancelled projects and production cuts.
Judge industrial and tariff policy on NET JOBS, not just ribbon cuttings. 🇺🇸🏭🚗

@thescottbarber America has changed, 50% of the people voted for this, let that sink in for a minute. USA has no principles other than imposing their views on the rest of the world.
Inflation numbers came out today, and the official story is that inflation went down. What the headline number doesn't tell you is that the government changed how inflation is calculated in the same release. A month ago, they said July inflation was 3.7%. Today, they recalculated July with the new formula and it dropped to 3.36%. If you measure August the same way as the months before it, inflation comes out around 3.8%, which means it went up. They didn't bring inflation down, they just changed how they calculate it.
Bessent did something similar with CPI last month. You only modify the way you calculate if they numbers are that bad. They genuinely thought we wouldn't notice...
Mark Carney: "What we're creating in building Canada strong is the independence, the sovereignty that we need to live our lives as we choose. To not have another country, a trade partner, you can guess which one, that dictates what we watch on our streaming, what language we speak, what environmental rules we have in our country."
Guess again.
Canada declared war on Germany Sept 10, 1939—over two years BEFORE 🇺🇸 did, trained 130K Allied aircrew, built the world's 3rd-biggest navy, defended the North Atlantic, took Juno Beach on D-Day, fought all SIX years of WWII, lived on rations to ship 🇨🇦 food to Brits.
