This year, we are marking the 76th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and Indonesia. In this sense, our relationship is still relatively young, yet it holds great promise. <…> In other words, we are seeking to build a truly comprehensive relationship across a wide range of areas - not only diplomacy and politics, but also economic cooperation, scientific exchanges, education, as well as military and technical cooperation. • In the coming weeks, we also hope to meet with Indonesian Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita in Yekaterinburg at the INNOPROM International Industrial Exhibition. This year, Indonesia is the partner country of the exhibition. Indonesia will have its own pavilion to showcase its products, equipment and technologies, as well as to hold business meetings aimed at promoting new contracts and cooperation that can further expand trade and economic ties between our two countries. • There are many promising sectors, one of which is energy. Cooperation may include supplies of Russian oil, gas and lubricants to Indonesia. We are also ready to cooperate in the field of nuclear energy. Rosatom, Russia’s state atomic energy corporation, is very active in Indonesia. We are ready to begin negotiations once Indonesia decides to build its first nuclear power plant. • We also wish to help the Indonesian public better understand that modern nuclear technology is safe. Russia possesses technologies that have proven to be safe and reliable. In addition, there are significant opportunities in agriculture - from exports of Russian wheat and meat to Indonesia to imports of Indonesian tropical products such as coffee, cocoa, tea and palm oil. • Every year, Russia provides hundreds of scholarships for Indonesian students. This year, at the first stage, we received a quota of 300 scholarships, and all of them have already been taken up. We have therefore requested an additional 40 to 50 scholarships from Moscow. I hope this request will be approved. If so, next year we will be able to request an initial quota of around 350 scholarships for 2027, with a gradual increase each year. The global disarmament landscape is not only stagnating. It is regressing. In Geneva (23/2), I delivered Indonesia’s national statement at the High-Level Segment of the 2026 Conference on Disarmament. The Conference must restore its credibility and demonstrate dynamic resilience by safeguarding its integrity and mandate amid mounting global pressures. True security is built through trust, restraint, and dialogue, not deterrence alone.
