I just read the new Haaretz article about how Israeli planted pines are suddenly dying en masse and it is absolutely worth dissecting. Here are a summary & my observations as a Palestinian scholar who writes on green colonialism. 1/

I want to be very clear: The IDF lured me and the Palestinian farmers directly into this ambush and then sped off. The US Embassy told me that they cannot protect me.

In an unprecedented & biggest investigation into war crimes in Gaza, we expose the elite & secretive IDF sniper team, the Ghost Unit "Refaim" & their brutal executions of unarmed civilians

University of Vienna has cancelled a set of teach-ins on Palestine. Shameful and against the values of free speech Europe constantly professes to uphold.

Last year, I returned to Gaza to visit my family after 16 years in exile. During my stay, I captured numerous photos. I aim to share them here in a thread to demonstrate that Gazans embrace life with passion and resilience. They have their own cuisine and cherish their moments of joy. It's not just about conflict and loss. We yearn for the return of our normal lives, our freedom, our land, and equality.
If Israelis were indigenous to Palestine, they wouldn’t be so ok with its destruction. They wouldn’t burn olive trees that are older than their constitution. They wouldn’t attack historical religious buildings. Their hearts would ache at the destruction of our land.

Today marks one year since journalist Shireen Abu Akleh was murdered by the Israeli military. Her case isn't an anomaly, but reflects a pattern of Israeli impunity for targeting journalists. #PressFreedom
