you know what? after the 18 to 24 crowd of parasocial bly manor viewers scraped her insta in 2020 and kept being weird about her playing a queer character, i think she gets a pass for acting indifferent about horror forever.
in honour of the 6 year anniversary of bly manor, im sharing this to remind everyone that while we will never be the same after watching it, mike flanagan is over here laughing at our trauma :))
the fact that this scene wasn’t scripted with this parallel, but kate siegel pitched it as director and it happened. yeah, more proof that we need more women at the head of horror.
sinto que essa cena tá sendo pouco comentada pq amo o contraste entre a carrie encantada e se permitindo ser uma adolescente normal pela primeira vez pra chris completamente melancólica

@hauntingnellie because now it’s “trendy” to hate something mainstream and claim that it’s constructive criticism. the revisionism going on right now is also amusing in a “you’re wasting so much energy to fit a trend” manner
how it feels watching carrie not expecting a perfect page by page book accurate adaptation from mike flanagan, who famously does not do page by page book accurate adaptations
I think we’ve lost the art of simply saying “this wasn’t my favorite” and moving on. not every show or movie that you personally didn’t enjoy is “bad” just bc you didn’t like it. you don’t have to tweet 700 times about how bad it is either. it’s okay to just say it wasn’t for you
First trailer for Mike Flanagan's ‘THE EXORCIST: MARTYRS’, starring Scarlett Johansson.
The film follows a detective who watches a serial killer's execution - only for his murder spree to continue in demonic ways.
In theaters on March 12, 2027.
It’s really funny how a lot of gl fans will insist on alan being separate from them and irrelevant and not the first gl etc but then you turn to the comics and hes like. their precious labubu. he might not be a proper gl but dont u dare say that in front of hal john or kyle.
doctor sleep, which actually understood the themes of the novel the shining AND the novel doctor sleep lmao. we gotta stop acting like the shining was a good adaptation because it’s not. king hates the shining because kubrick ignored the themes of the novel.
I have no strong opinions about Flanagan but it’s funny how his stans keep mentioning that Stephen King approves of his adaptations and he hated the shining and I’m sorry but do you really think anything flanagan has made is better than THE SHINING? KUBRICK’S THE SHINING?
