BREAKING: Hurricane Hunters just measured an almost unbelievable 889 mb pressure inside Hurricane Polo.

If that reading is confirmed, Polo would become the second strongest hurricane ever recorded in the eastern Pacific, behind only Hurricane Patricia in 2015.

A super El Niño is strengthening in the Pacific and could become one of the strongest ever recorded. NOAA says there is more than a 90% chance of a very strong event this autumn and winter.

A new Climate Impact Lab report estimates that the extra heat associated with this El Niño could contribute to 451,000 additional deaths. The researchers also warn of increased risks from drought, wildfires, flooding and food insecurity.
