Last week, RETTC met with staff from the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office in preparation for their new “junk fee” regulations, set to take effect on September 2.
This consumer protection rule aims to eliminate so-called junk fees. During the meeting, RETTC emphasized multifamily providers' strong commitment to price transparency. We also showcased how our data-sharing models (MITS) are streamlining operations, reducing costs, and delivering greater transparency—ultimately benefiting renters.
While rental housing providers are actively preparing for compliance, RETTC highlighted the significant operational challenges this regulation presents. We look forward to continued dialogue with policymakers to ensure that innovation and transparency remain aligned in advancing housing affordability and access.
