@Radio4#youandyours piece on energy rebates, seems to say that anyone in a tied house (eg clergy in church accommodation) will get no energy rebate because they don't pay the Council Tax, but will have to 'repay' the rebate through the standing charge?
Thank you, Jim, from @ZephsCafe, for lovely, printed mugs with #HotChocFri and #Plastic Free #Oadby in mind. Thank you, Jim, for all you do for @ManorHighSchool and the community.
Oh yes, and a delicious cake for the staff, too!🙂
@NeilDotObrien@9amben Careful: Narnia was only covered in snow because the country was ruled by an evil regime. I guess that isn't what you meant.
(Although if it was Narnia, your campaign against the Covid-deniers would be a good analogy for fighting evil.)
Growing up, my Muslim family never celebrated Christmas. This year I am not going home, because pandemic, so my roommates are teaching me how to have my first proper Christmas.
I am approaching this with anthropological precision.
Here are a few observations.
@CrewKatharine@FatherTim So what's the threshold? (1) Stay and speak afterwards? (2) Walk out? (3) Stand up and interrupt? I've never yet reached category 2 - despite sometimes thinking afterwards that I should. I think that this kind of vile anti-Semitism is now a category 3 for me.
@NeilDotObrien Hard to see you will get much political support for change. Too many on the other side of the House don't understand why this matters. Too many on your side of the House benefit from donations from those who enjoy double leverage - debt/equity and big bonuses when gearing wins
@NeilDotObrien@KemiBadenoch Good to see you share this, Neil. A bit of nuance is needed. Too easy to (mis)read some of your comments about diversity training to imply that you don't feel the need to hear the voices of those who have experienced racism.
@stpaulsoadby@CTOadby@rutsmi We try to include everybody, it was led partly from each of the two churches with readers contributing from homes in Glen and Oadby
@stpaulsoadby@CTOadby@rutsmi It was us! The Methodist Service was live on zoom as it has been since lockdown, but it is also now live both in Oadby Methodist Church and in Great Glen Methodist Church.
