@monkofjustice This language of "power" is what is truly distracting. Episcopacy, whether as PB or diocesan bishop, is never about power but about service.
Not wanting a fight but "assumpt" in the 16c. is not necessarily equivalent to the dogmatic use of Assumption re: Virgin Mary. E.g., "He was assumpte to the state of cardynal" (1503). Or, "Jesus is asumpt, or taken away into heauen" (1570). I.e., all Christians assumpt to heaven.
Has the Anglican Church historically believed in the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary? Yes. From the 1531 English Primer republished by Queen Elizabeth I in 1560...
How Mary assumpted was above the skies,
By her son as sovereign lady:
Received there among the heirarchies,
And crowned her the queen of glory.
What is Lectio Divina? "Evangelicals don't need to feel like they're doing something unusual or unique ... rather that they are just reading the Bible like the Church has always read the Bible."

Lectio Divina may be new to many today but historically it was just *the way* to read the biblical text. -Greg Peters @revdrgregpeters
