In the presence of Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Minister of Education, Government of India, and Jayant Chaudhary, Hon’ble Minister of State for Education and Minister of State for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (Independent Charge), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited partnered with Indian Institute of Technology Madras to establish the Centre for Next-Gen Technologies for Robotic Assisted Surgeries – YANTRAS at IIT Madras. The partnership was launched at the IIT Madras Technology Summit 2026 held at Bharat Mandapam under the theme “From IITM. For Bharat. Building Together.”
Mr. Pushp Kumar Nayar, Executive Director (Corporate HR), represented BPCL at the event along with Mr. Sanjay Yadav, DGM (CSR), CO and Ms. Lalruatkimi, Assistant Executive (CSR), CO. Sanjay Kumar, Secretary, School Education & Literacy, and Vineet Joshi, Secretary, Higher Education, Ministry of Education, were also present on the occasion.
The initiative aims to advance indigenous innovation in robotic-assisted surgeries through cutting-edge research, training, startup incubation and global collaboration in medical technology. The centre is expected to contribute towards improved healthcare outcomes, reduced import dependency and the development of indigenous patents, while creating opportunities for researchers in the field.
