Not very unlike ancient idols this is supposed to represent the deification of a human being but the idol-person is dehumanized by adding animal characteristics. Abortion itself relies on dehumanization. Christians believe the opposite—that people are made in the image of God.
"There are indeed no scientific proofs or philosophical arguments that can move a person to accept the gospel." Herman Bavinck, Dutch Reformed Theologian
The larger point being that the gospel is of divine origin and cannot be reduced to an ordinary human fallible teaching.
The post below sounds like it is teaching universalism. I doubt that Jesus drew Hitler, let alone Judas Iscariot to Himself. As the Gospel of John also says about Judas, “Not all of you are clean” (John 13:11) and calls him a devil (6:70) and describes Satan entering him (13:27).
Jesus: “And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself.” John 12:32
Calvinist: “No, Lord. You don’t draw all men. You only draw the elect.”
Jesus: “I said all men.”
Calvinist: “Yes, but we know what You really meant.”
@Bookm_Danno Not what I said. I said her post sounds like universalism. But you’re interpretation of “all” is flawed. The point is that He died for all kinds of people and not for every single person ever. He died for Jews and Gentiles and Romans and barbarians. All those drawn are saved.
@ShadowSkelett I’m not questioning Scripture. I’m not in a position to question Scripture. To be in such a position would mean that you’re the judge, which is absurd since it is God’s word and comes with His authority. I’m disagreeing with her misinterpretation.
@nathanweisser Martín Luther and his bride had a witness to their consummation. It was not terribly uncommon to have such bedding ceremonies. I suppose you think this also was sinful. (I’m not commenting on the movie referenced, which I’ve not seen.)
@SankaraDispatch@elonmusk Um, not true. Hitler viewed Christianity as a weak religion. He persecuted and even executed many Christians for their faith.
@JoshuaBarzon Um, remove Bible. It is a transliteration of a word found in Scripture that we would translate as “book.” Technically, we wouldn’t find any English words in the original Scriptures since they weren’t written in English.
