Growth/Marketing guy. Building LUSA. Father of twins. Likely concerned about paid ads, influencers, retention, UX, incrementality, margin, &/or UCLA sports.
@heyitsalexP@herrmanndigital This. They thought they could somehow grab a big part of the already-solidified $150B+ casual/athletic shoe market, but really should have just focused on the $15B "comfy business casual" shoe market.
@TaylorHoliday@tysondrake Pre-2022 is vintage?? Ouch. But yeah working towards 10% opex is smart (and achievable) there's days. Even for vintage brands.
@sourfraser While this IS super smart (I've done something similar, but will def be using this framework to do it better), I will be honest with what I'm thinking... This is kinda a lot of work. Be careful. Make sure whoever you give this task to has time. It's not a little two-hour project.
@IstvanicMarin Yes! I've always looked at John Wooden's Pyramid of Success as a major tool. Love this post. We should all be striving to reach "competitive greatness"... in whatever we do.
@drewfallon12 It's hard to spreadsheet your way back to cool.
I think the real issue is that Lulu lost the product edge that made the brand special. They stopped feeling like a must‑have brand while others were doing what LULU used to do - build community, product obsession, and culture.
@seanfrank Sorry, but... me too. I know who he is now though. Probably seen him mentioned before in news and on X but just straight forgot.
Post this same post again next year and let's see if I remember who that is. =)
@jspujji OH. Also... are you attributing revenue just based on last-click traffic from chatgpt/perplexity/etc.? or some more complex incrementality analysis? or something else?
@jspujji Love this. After doing your weekly analysis and seeing gaps, what would you say you're doing more of, creating fresh new pages or updating content on existing new pages?

Another awesome quote from @ThisIsSethsBlog to add to the books.
