I try to reach deep into humanities when working on @inearth_game.
There are influences from hermetic, judeo-christian, and pagan traditions all over the game.
My philosophy is to make the best game I can as a solo dev.
The best is definitely not "one-shot it with AI".
The best is definitely not "refuse to use any AI".
@JouleBlade Not necessarily. AI will not be the best tool for every part of the project. You might iterate and find out where is fails and take over manually too.
Determining where it actually does better than you gives your the advantage vs both overusers and underusers.
It is unfortunate. I think that raising productivity is the best way to actually incease the standard of living overall. But yes, unfortunately there is always an adjustment period and definitely the state should help to ease the transition.
I don't have the data center subject well mapped to be honest, but it seems they should be built where the energy is cheap. On the other hand that probably unfortunately means not Europe, because we're stuggling here with the bill too. I would like my country to have compute independence though. Idk.
Biggest plot twist of the AI era, from all the cybersecurity news lately:
The "slop code" was written by humans.
Every breach postmortem for the last 20 years: "legacy code nobody understood."
Decades of it. And AI is the first thing that's actually reading all of it.
@thrillhouse01@Rayyrei I mean, I think it is a decent game I want to market. Three years of work, not much free time for the last 15 months. I do care a lot, and I did spend years acquiring various skills.
@thrillhouse01@Rayyrei I could probably refine it to "the best I can do given the constraints of my mortal existence and alloted hobby project time". But even without these constraints, after becoming the next Picasso, I'd do better and more with some tools.
The world never ends. One might have though we reached a peak of figurative art with the academicism, then a couple of generations of expressionists then abstactionits then conceptualists... one would think people lost the ability to create representations of reality. Then take a single look at contemporary digital art, and figurative representations are doing just fine.
@thrillhouse01@Rayyrei I don't really believe in the master-apprentice dynamic (I'm more of a free knowledge, learn for the web kinda guy), but I agree that it is a worthy endevour to improve one's skills in lower-tech areas. I just don't think one should be limited only to those.
@thrillhouse01@Rayyrei I think the real deal will be the proper big-boy artists using AI to its full extent. Then we'll see a new Disco Elysium releasing every weekend.
Most of us, we can only do our best, I think.
@thrillhouse01@Rayyrei I agree to an extent. There is a fair bit of skill transfer imo, as I said.
There are particular skillsets that don't transfer, but a lower-tech background helps a ton.
