I accidentally created a whole identity crisis in my own house.😂
My baby brother has been visiting since yesterday, and for his entire life I’ve called him baby.” It’s stuck so badly that even now, at 20 years old, he still responds like it’s his official name.
Now here’s where it gets messy… that’s also what I call my husband.
So currently, I have two grown men in one space, both conditioned to answer to the same name like it’s roll call.
Every time I say “baby,” there’s this tiny moment of suspense. You can literally see both of them processing it. My brother will snap his head up immediately like, yes? you called me? while my husband turns a second later like, hold on… was that for me?
I’ve been ignoring it, thinking it’s not that serious. Until today.
I was in the kitchen, minding my business, and I casually…
I have this VERY bad habit of abandoning myself when I’m going through a difficult period. Haircuts, I reduce my skin care, stop dressing up everywhere. It’s bad
Randomly remembered the Uber driver in whose car I forgot my Google Pixel that year. I didn't notice cos I had two phones, so it took me about 2 hours to realize and started calling the driver. He picked on first ring and said he had been hovering around Ogudu expecting my call, but he couldn't wait anymore. Promised me he will bring it after church the following day which was Sunday. I was so anxious, but my mind kept telling me that if he wanted to steal my phone he would have done it since. At 6am the following day he called and said he will bring it around noon, and he did. Drove straight from Winners Otta to return it. Sometimes you meet Nigerians who will give you hope about Nigeria
You won’t cook? Okay no problem, we’re not meant for each other.
You won’t change your surname to mine? Okay no problem, we’re not meant for each other.
There are a million and one stunning and educated ladies who would do it. I’ll pick from there and i suggest you do the same.
These things are not hard, no need to fight each other tbh. We accept the love we think we deserve.
I’ll do dishes , take care of the kids , clean up after us ( he will join me cos obviously he’s not an idiot like your dad)
