I was lucky enough to be in the building and my brother lives close by so he hustled over as well.

@Moe54577251 My mother’s home won’t test caregivers. And they’d shut us out of the could. Only let us in when forced to. And yes, have to get tested every 4-5 days. And each test takes at least an hour even with an appointment

The system is completely broken.

We need a new system that doesn’t ration care to the point of neglect, but actually provides seniors high-quality medical care & a meaningful life.

Even though I’m designated as an essential caregiver, I’m locked out of my mother’s LTC facility (again) because a worker has tested positive. I saw at least two “part time” support workers being “trained” last weekend. And they moved a cleaner from one unit to another.

Our healthcare system is broken. The accepted ratio of PSWs to resident is ridiculous. There is no way they can respond to a residents call button in a timely manor. Leaving residents sitting in wet diapers when they knew they needed to toilet!
