@atrupar Not my read.
He sounds logical and reasonable, but he was 1 against many and clearly tired of the consensus view and scaremongering tactics of the AI labs that will eventually spoil it for everybody.
@FinavigatorMe Morality is always relative, it flips into 'bad' at the bottom of the Overton window, and it moves/shifts with it as times and societal accepted practices change.
There are no absolutes in morality, no matter how much one looks for them.
@FinavigatorMe It's ok not to like it, but I don't think it's incorrect, and bad/evil is a moral stance, always a relativistic qualifier.
Also, it is not nihilistic, it is Realpolitik.
The warm and fuzzies that regular people associate with good/bad do not apply to State to State interactions.
@growintfast@MartinShkreli@AnthropicAI@DarioAmodei Time will tell.
If they don't get obscene rules breaking listing and index inclusion criteria, and if they don't blow through the money they will raise in under a year forcing them to issue more shares, I'll take the L.
@scientificecon Rules and laws are in play only if they can be enforced.
As such, there is no such thing for the superpowers, since nobody can make them comply.
Superpowers have agreements, and they respect them until they decide otherwise.
Rules/international law is for the rest of the world
@growintfast@MartinShkreli@AnthropicAI@DarioAmodei Maybe
Owning the news cycle now helps their negotiations, it is leverage to use in haggling with the listing investment banks
Getting banks to bend listing rules locks in IPO success which is essential for raising (way) more, through additional share dump (like SpaceX will too)
@growintfast@MartinShkreli@AnthropicAI@DarioAmodei He got specifically what he asked for, and the CEO of Amazon, who is invested in Anthropic, seems to have helped pushed for the restriction with the administration.
The rest is speculation, which you can buy or not.
@growintfast@MartinShkreli@AnthropicAI@DarioAmodei Nobody can match the mythical capabilities of a restricted internal model.
Anyway, you could be right and maybe this is all a set of unrelated coincidences.

@growintfast@MartinShkreli@AnthropicAI@DarioAmodei The admin tech heads are their investors, they are safe.
What plays better for the IPO?
"We have good models, but are matched by free open source ones in under 6 months every time"
"We have secret models so scary good the government doesn't let us release them to the public"
Breaking: Amazon CEO Andy Jassy was among the tech leaders who raised concerns to senior Trump officials this week re: security risks in Anthropic's newest models.
Those convos set in motion the government's new export controls on foreign national access to Mythos and Fable.
@AnthropicAI I too came up with a cold fusion device in my garage. I cannot show it to you, the government will not allow it, but imagine the value you will get buying my shares.
Anything to hype up the Anthropic IPO this fall, and since 'data centers in space' was taken by a larger con ...
@militiaecael8@zerohedge I am sure he has an issue with Iran charging ships going through their territorial water, but no.
He is referring to the business they've done despite/around US sanctions.
