The West Wing is still a show I constantly find myself revisiting, even if it’s just dropping in for a few episodes after a long day. Aaron Sorkin did some of his best writing throughout the course of this series & Martin Sheen’s performance as President Jed Bartlet will go down in history. This is an all-time great show.
Then Jesus said unto the sick, “you better have insurance.”
Then Jesus said unto the stranger, “are you here legally?”
Then Jesus said unto the hungry, “my taxes better not be paying for these loaves and fishes.”
Then Jesus said unto the poor, “this is your own fault.”
(@anneapplebaum)
Your first attempt might not be very good, but nobody's early work is good. There will always be a gap between where you are and where you want to be. And the bridge between that gap is courage. The courage to look foolish in the beginning. The courage to show up again when your early work is criticized. The courage to look yourself in the mirror and say, "I realize I'm not good enough yet, but the only way to get better is to keep working on it."
U.S. world-famous author Stephen King:
“Trump is a tumor in America’s veins. A tyrant who does not hesitate to set a country on fire for his narcissistic ego. No horror story I’ve written could be as terrifying as this man.”
Yesterday, for the first time in a long time, I felt something that has become unfamiliar: pride. Watching the living presidents gathered together reminded me that our story is bigger than any single administration, election, or demagogue.

📺 SEE IT: President Biden handled Medal of Honor ceremonies the way he handled the presidency: steady, competent, dignified, and never making the moment about himself.
Trump, meanwhile, fumbled with it like he fumbled the country: awkward, confused, exhausting, and somehow making a simple task feel like a national crisis.
Where the hell is Jake Tapper’s emergency age panel when we actually need it?
Seven Things This 63 Year Old Surgeon Would Tell My 40-Year-Old Self
I am 63 now, and I spend my days as an orthopedic surgeon watching how people's earlier choices show up in their bodies decades later. I see it in my college friends, high school buddies, and patients that I have known for 20+ years. If I could sit across from myself at 40, here is what I would want that man to understand. None of what follows is complicated, and all of it compounds over the decades… either against you… or in your favor. You are largely in control.
Very emotional moment from the interview with Zelenskyy. You should watch this.
JOURNALIST: Do you miss being an actor?
ZELENSKYY:?I miss being a good father.
JOURNALIST: When your children were little, what did you tell them the most? What was the thing that you told them the most when they were small?
ZELENSKYY: I love you.
JOURNALIST: And what do you tell them now that they're older?
ZELENSKYY: Oh, I miss you.
JOURNALIST: When was the last time you cried?
ZELENSKYY: I will try to do it after our interview. No, I mean this, between us. I'm a normal man and then there are a lot of different moments, between us, almost each day, a lot of losses on the battlefield and civilians, and there are absolutely crazy attacks on our people.
And I'm just, it's… I mean, It's very difficult really, when I give orders (medals). I said about it. It's always difficult for me when I give orders (medals) to the mothers and fathers, who lost their children. In such moments, really, I often cry.
JOURNALIST: Are you a hero?
ZELENSKYY: No.
JOURNALIST: So who is your hero?
ZELENSKYY:?My hero? My children, my army, our army, and Ukrainian people. So I'm a part… I'm also a Ukrainian, so I'm a part of our nation. But now our nation, I think, that our nation is absolutely heroic.
