Trump is Misleading you on Canadian Tariffs!
Trump and Republicans keep claiming that Canada has a 250% tariff on US dairy products.
This is extremely misleading for a few reasons:
1) These tariffs are only in effect when Canada imports over 13 million gallons of milk, 27.56 million pounds of cheese, or 11.02 million pounds of butter/cream in a sing year. Otherwise the tariffs on dairy are mostly around 0%. Canada rarely ever, exceeds these quotas.
2) Trump is the one who agreed to these tariffs when he helped create and sign the USMCA trade agreement.
Stop buying into the misleading propaganda.
President Trump has created a mess. Here’s the solution: drop the threat of tariffs completely and let’s get to the table to land a deal that creates jobs and grows our economies on both sides of the border. Until then, we won’t relent.
We love our country. We will not be dictated to – or bullied by – anyone.
This morning I outlined BC’s response to unjustified US tariffs.
We will always be the True North. Strong and Free.

That feels like a message to the enemy.

Ronald Reagan: “We should beware of the demagogues who are willing to declare a Trade war against our friends, weakening our economy, our national security, and the entire free world, all while cynically waving the American flag…”
We are fighting back hard in this trade war.
And we will not stand down until the threat to British Columbia is over.
