@LisaTesta17 When you turn your phone into the provider for a trade-in, or taking it to the recycling center, both ways are great for the environment. The center will break it down into the raw materials. Then they distribute the raw materials to companies that in turn use them. #TechThrow

C is the correct answer. According to Sadoff E-Recycling in 2019, For every 1 million cell phones recycled, 35,274 pounds of copper, 772 pounds of silver, 75 pounds of gold, and 33 pounds of palladium can be recovered (EPA)

@jennevansxo Dont throw it in the trash! Many, if not all, towns have local recycling centers you can drop them off. There are also vending machines, or drop off points that will give you money for your old phones. https://t.co/gWsUEBrbcZ is one example. #TechThrow there is always a way.

@Mike93571522 Not too sure on the money loss, but there is a huge environmental cost by not recycling correctly. based on a national geographic artice in 2018, the vast majority of plastic - 79% - is accumulated in landfills or thrown as litter. Much of that ends up in the oceans. #TechThrow

@Mike93571522 Hey there, usually the plastic bits off of the phones are not easily repurposed, like the hard plastic shells, but the screens, lenses, microphones, battery connectors and sim cards are. #techthrow

Hello everyone and welcome to the #TechThrow Live Chat! Today we'll be discussing the importance of recycling technology, specifically smartphones. To start it off, How many of you trade in your phones for new ones?

Most of the tech companies work with local recycling companies for their broken trade ins. Apple just sued one of them based in Canada. You can check some of it out here (https://t.co/CNol3VnDDL) They hid the phones and resold them. Sounds like a bad movie plot to me. #TechThrow

@LisaTesta17 Hey there, 3 years is a good marker. These companies go on a 2 year cycle. So, at least for me, anything after 2 is a bonus lol

@TrippletzTV #risetofame I'm all for this. Gave a quick read through and they're all about safety first. My main concern was how it would affect someone long term. Like how a mobile device needs updates, would someone have to have their brain opened up again? Other than that, I' all in.
